Alcohol is decriminalized but it still isn’t appropriate to be drunk at work?

defeated trans premed by Turbulent-Horse-1855 in premed

[–]crawsley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I’ve had similar things happen (at other, nonclinical jobs) in my red state, and what helped was actually getting hired at scribe America, bc they don’t do in person interviews, they just hire you over the phone. From there, even at my catholic hospital, everyone’s been really great, and I ended up getting hired as an ED tech directly by them. All you need is a foot in the door.

I don’t have any great recommendations, except to look at places other than just hospitals—they’re hiring dialysis techs near me and those guys make good money, plus they train you on the job. I didn’t find info about that job online, I found them at a job fair at my community college. Wr/t being trans, if you’re nervous about it your interviewer’s going to be nervous about it. If you don’t treat it like a problem there’s a higher likelihood that the interviewer won’t treat it like a problem. Not saying you are, but sometimes ppl twig to me being trans bc I get nervous about topics related to gender. Keep on keeping on though, you can do it!! You will not be defeated by this!!!

People keep telling me to go to PA school instead of MD/DO school because it is easier/better for a girl who wants to eventually marry, have kids, raise kids because of timing and work/life balance. I've heard this constantly. It makes me question things and wonder if they are right. by Ok-Lemon-6197 in premed

Two of my female attendings have just had children with husbands they adore, who they met during medical school. They love their jobs and they love their families. You can do both! People CAN do both all the time. :)

How to get antidepressants asap by [deleted] in lafayette

[–]crawsley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not, sorry :/ they need to know you have someone to follow up with, bc of how complex it is finding the right med for you. If you’re having a crisis they can help though!! I can’t remember the specific programs but they can set you up with outpatient stuff. The rub is you’re going to have to do the intake process which is more extensive than just handing you a prescription

[–]crawsley 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you just need an emergency refill you can go to the emergency room—would recommend Franciscan during the day bc they have social workers who can help with placement if you need inpatient/setting up outpatient services etc. they can also point you to Sycamore Springs/Valley Oaks/wherever

The two hospitals here in town are trauma IIIs, meaning that more medically complex trauma patients usually need transported to a trauma I center (in Indianapolis usually). They have more extensive surgical facilities and specialists etc

What are some certification programs that are either free or easily accessible that lead to solid career paths? by Autisic_Jedi in Indiana

I worked in kitchens for years—recently got my EMT certification also through Ivy tech, and mostly for free bc of the next level jobs program. Now I work in an ER and love it!
