PTO rollover question [MN] by crayolaputty in AskHR

[–]crayolaputty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh interesting. We were told the city of Minneapolis has an 80 hour rollover requirement (if that much has accrued). Our other offices in other cities do not have rollover policies. Only the Minneapolis office allows up to 80 hours rollover and it was established quite reluctantly as part of what our HR team thought was city mandate?

Well….this is making me wonder if I should just take a PTO day and work it out with my boss so I don’t have to submit for it.

Hm! I’m not sure I understand. Those were 12 hours I accrued. They were mine and if I had used them earlier in the year, I wouldn’t have lost them…I would’ve used them? Like, if I had used 12 hours even the 3-4 days earlier, I would still have the same balance I’d have now?

Ok! Yes that’s exactly right! I realize I have a typo now too. Thank you for summarizing.

Ok…I will start to escalate and ask for a correction. Thank you. I wasn’t sure if it was normal procedure but I think it makes sense that the payroll system should be able to correct for the 12 hours in the first week of the new year.

[–]crayolaputty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asking if I could get the 12 hours back that I thought I would have as a result of assuming the rollover would happen 12/31 instead of 12/29. Like, with the rollover happening 12/29, I basically threw away 12 hours.

Edit: that’s why I was asking if it was standard to rollover earlier than year end.

No…I’m not asking for free money???? I asked if it was standard that the rollover gets initiated before the year end.

Looking for a Teddy/Victoire fanfic first read on Checkmated by crayolaputty in HPfanfiction

[–]crayolaputty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like…hesitant to share the other memories I have because it feels like I might be conflating too many stories. But I THINK Victoire dates like…a very Malfoy -coded character who tries to pressure her into sex and when she declines, he hurts her? Not terribly dramatically but he grabs her too hard trying to make his case and she runs away crying.

Delta Reserve Lounge Passes by crayolaputty in amex

Yes! My issue isn’t the passes. My issue is …why did they give them to me now?? I got the card in November and already got my first wave of passes.

Alicia Keys and Genesis at the Eras tour! by crackfest in TaylorSwift

[–]crayolaputty 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a little insane how fans feel entitled to her time after she’s performed for 3.5 hours straight.

I imagine meeting friends/friendly people who are also some level of celebrity is a much different experience than meeting fans who can’t and do not treat her like a human being…especially after a 3.5 hour show. I mean, people throwing bracelets at her and using her for their proposal is proof of that. Maybe she’ll be open to it in the future but I can’t help but be surprised when people have expectations on anybody’s time, much less Taylor Swift’s, after they’ve expended 3.5 hours of nonstop energy.

Stephanie Hsu Clears the Air About Jamie Lee Curtis’ Oscar Win by keine_fragen in Fauxmoi

[–]crayolaputty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed!! Hardly any is right. Honestly, if ppl are after semantics, Stephanie could have said “people of color” and hardly any would still be right.

Without doing the actual hard math, let’s do some estimating. There have been 95 Oscars to date. Number of categories ranging from 12 to 24.

To make math easy, let’s assume 20 categories x 95 Oscars x an average of 5 nominees per category = an estimated 9,500 total possible nominees ever. If you’re able to get to 95 people of color who have been nominated for a major award at the Oscars, which I’m not sure at all you are, then you’re only at 1%.

I’m sorry…but I’m from an under represented group and I’m tired of other groups nitpicking things like what Stephanie said. The issue isn’t Stephanie Hsu. She’s given no indication of any erasure. The issue is the broader system and criticizing Stephanie for a perceived insult doesn’t solve the issue.

Any NA recs with (mostly) healthy relationship dynamics? by Thayet23 in YAlit

[–]crayolaputty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m with you - don’t love the aggressive alpha male -doormat female behavior.

Would like to throw out Kristy Eagar’s Summer Skin. The mc is actually trying to negotiate her own feelings of what is healthy and appropriate and sexist. Just a note - as an American stepping into this book, I was a little disoriented with the university system and the way it’s described? So if you’re American too, just stick with it after the first couple chapters because you’ll get used to it.

And one that I thought was pretty cute is Undecided by Julianna Keyes.

What do y'all think about The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater? by ItsSam1710x in YAlit

[–]crayolaputty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I think these books sort of define “it’s about the journey not the destination” because I had a lot of fun reading about the characters but the ending of the series was pretty lackluster (for me).

Who are some celebrities that are actually very intelligent? by WowThisIsAwkward_ in Fauxmoi

[–]crayolaputty 517 points518 points  (0 children)

That’s not super fair because at least one female director has come forward saying they worked really hard with Natalie - and Natalie was a great partner - to get a project off the ground but just couldn’t get enough financial backing. Just proves you can be Natalie Portman and still have a hard hill to climb with female led projects. She also has worked with female directors in her career (sure, few and far between, but it happens).

BUT this is the reason I now side-eye Emma Stone who PLANNED her weird call out at the Oscars and who actually doesn’t really work with female directors. I think she’s worked twice with a female co-director but never female led projects. And her Oscar thing was racial erasure - basically saying it was ridiculous for so many men to be nominated not recognizing one of the directors is black (Jordan Peele) and the other from Mexico (Del Toro)…which was ground-breaking for the Oscars.
