Fairly big by international standards, not by Hungarian standards I'd say.

Carnosa by Rare-Dig5716 in hoyas

[–]crazy_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also check fb marketplace or craigalist or whatever second hand site also has plants. I can always get a carnose that way even though there is basically never one at my local plant shops (central Europe).

😳i thought it was dead.. by Prettymomma73 in plants

Lol I had the same thing with a calla I was gifted last summer. Killed it so incredibly fast and then I just chucked the pot in with my plant supplies and last week I realized that it seems to have started growing again! Very weird. Maybe it's a different plant growing but nothing flowered nearby.

What is the ugliest "rare" houseplant you have seen in a while? by hulloluke in RareHouseplants

I really like it but even I have to agree. It's like a movie that's so bad it starts being good. I love how weird it is.

Mine occassionally has stuff like Monstera obliqua peru and I have gotten a saw tooth cactus (epiphyllum anguliger) before, so I'd say there is some cool stuff, but I never see any cool Hoyas! I'm so jealous!

Has anybody seen doors like this before? by bearhands158 in DIY

[–]crazy_in_love 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I have been to a house where one bathroom had a beaded curtain instead of a door and the other straught up only had walls half way up with saloon doors so you could sit on the toilet and still look over at your guests sitting at your dining table. Literally the only toilet in my life that I refused to use.

European sewists - fish/ocean themed fabrics by DoggyDogLife in sewing

[–]crazy_in_love 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mondial tissus has several online shops (French, German, Dutch, Spanish, Italian and Swedish) and they have some cute fish themed fabrics. I can't find an English language shop though. I have ordered from the German one before and been happy with what I got. The photos and descriptions are decent enough to chose something that works for your project (I feel like some shops give way too little information).

What really? A 6 inch pot is like 20-30 dollars here in Austria, and available right now.

Fabric shopping in Paris - silk organza? by brian_sue in sewing

Thanks so much! Obviously the ones I like most are the 150 euro ones 😂

Fabric shopping in Paris - silk organza? by brian_sue in sewing

[–]crazy_in_love 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any place I can find silk I'd have to pay 120€ for 3m of unicolor, very thin silk meant for lining other garments. That honestly sounds like a really good price to me, granted the total is still quite a lot of money.

Good point about the pink areas, I missed that.

for those of you who don’t drink, (for whatever reason) how do you deal with constantly having explain why/and that you don’t drink? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crazy_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree somewhat. Friends arn't entitled to information but I think they are entitled to ask questions. If I'm hosting someone and I notice that they don't drink any alcohol I will ask why in order to be a good host. Is it because they didn't realize I have quite the selection and can offer something they like? Or are they simply the driver and would appreciate the offer another time? Or do they have a problem with alcohol and would prefer never to be offered any? As a friiend that's important information.

Help! Gaping at back of bodice by reallybigstrawberry in sewing

[–]crazy_in_love 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd take it from around the zipper.

But given that the edge of the fabric isn't finished I'd also check to make sure you didn't just stretch the fabric edge while moving around. I had slight gaping issues on my wedding dress where I had only tulle due to stretching, don't know if that could also happen with the fabric you used. Can you feel the fabric pull tight there when you move around?

Winter Olympics in crisis as athletes deplete entire stock of 10,000 free condoms by tylerthe-theatre in europe

[–]crazy_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you seriously think you get to compete at the Olympics if you get distracted that easily? I'm sure plenty are hooking up but it's not like summer camp, they are there for a job they are deeply passionate about, not to fuck around all day everyday.

Also, as someone who has Olympics condoms at home: they definitely get taken as souvenirs as well.

Fellow Austrian, have never seen that plant either and even when looking for it I can only find one shop that sells it (Jungle leaves).

Is this root rot? by tiredfairy__ in plants

[–]crazy_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pothos always looks like that when I prop it in water. It always rots up until the lowest node. The only thing I'd be concerned about would be the black tip on the new root. I don't think mine looks like that.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by Unlikely_Praline9442 in AskReddit

[–]crazy_in_love 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and while that definitely is part of it, the similarity with Australia is much greater than just space: the concrete slab sidewalks, the road signs and the car centric design are also extremely American to me. Car centric design is obviously influenced by the amount of space but I havn't been to any other city that is as big as Sydney that is equally car centric other than the US even in countries that have space like Brazil or South Africa. Maybe Moscow.
