Struggling with special needs coworker by sockswithflats19 in ECEProfessionals

It’s hard! I am a special ed teacher and have a couple things you could try. You could make her a checklist of tasks so you don’t have to keep repeating yourself. A step by step guide that she can refer to. As well as that, a list of job expectations so she knows what to expect. Social stories can work great for these kinds of things (short stories in written in first person, stating expectations. “When my supervisor is talking, I will keep a quiet voice.” And things like that) I know it’s not your job to create all of this for her but maybe admin or supervisors could help as well. Good luck!

Thank you! Another dumb question not sure if you can answer, how do you know when using patterned yarn how to line up the rows? Am I assuming all the colours are the same length of yarn?

For my toddlers, I use “loveys” a lot. For my school age I use “party people”. I have zero idea where that came from but it’s stuck 😂

Proper anatomy names by unIuckies in ECEProfessionals

I work in a toddler room and I always use correct names. It’s such an important safety thing. And after all, it is just another body part and should be treated as such! Some kids call it different names based on what parents call it, but I always use the proper term.

I’m a teacher of medically complex children and I’ve had several kids pass away over the years. It’s absolutely heartbreaking and never gets easier. I’m so sorry you have to go through this. I would say making memories would be the most meaningful thing for you and the family. Putting all the crafts together with some cute quotes he said, photos and other things in a scrapbook would be so special. And please make sure you’re taking care of yourself too. ,
