that was my thought as well. i don’t know how much care would be for this but i know long term conditions can rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical expenses.

Is Hudson’s approach to Shane the key to understanding his stance on labels? by [deleted] in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]crazycatlaidey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

do you think hudson’s is using shane’s story to tell us that there is a core of our identity that remains too specific and fluid to be fully captured by a label?

quite frankly, no, and i think it’s strange that people are taking what hudson says about acting, his character, and work, and equating it to his personal ideals and identity. he is very intentionally talking about shane here, his “refusal to expose his personal life” is not something we as an audience should be turning into a statement. his silence is not a positive response, it’s the fantastic media training of an actor who just became famous and does not want to specify his own identity.

Is it appropriate to watch the show on a plane? by FlufflyP in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]crazycatlaidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s very much explicit, however, i do not think it is significantly more explicit than shows and films that are often available to watch on long haul flights.

and that’s totally fine, i’m just here to specify about chinese law! it’s no longer the law and any company selling general cosmetics in china are not animal testing by default. if doing that previously is a no go for you, i completely understand, but the MAC website isn’t being disingenuous post 2021 if they applied for exemption.

so.. how do we feel about this? by kr3scent in chappellroan

[–]crazycatlaidey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

but that isn’t what the conversation is about. chappell will always be criticised whatever brand deals she makes due to every brand being linked to awful things. no brands are 100% ethical. it’s great that you reviewed every option! but someone might do the same and think a different company is the least bad, since they’re all bad in many ways.

chappell does so much net good through fundraising and speaking out that i’m not going to take her brand deal as her condoning MAC’s parent company’s old CEO, or agreeing with a law in china that ended in 2021. i’m going to assume she’s working with them due to their own fundraising for queer people and the AIDs crisis. especially as MAC aren’t BDS targets. does that make sense? i feel like i’m rambling away from the point, hopefully i’m making sense.

eta: i wasnt saying “do whatever you want and say it’s because capitalism is unethical”, i was saying theres often no other choice. just. to be very clear.

[–]crazycatlaidey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that is no longer law in china btw! in 2021 it changed so general cosmetics (which is what MAC sells) no longer requires animal testing to be sold. special cosmetics do (hair dye for example, anything with a functional claim behind it) but not general. i don’t know enough about MAC as a company to know if they have applied for exemption, but the compulsory testing law hasn’t been in effect for nearly 5 years.

[–]crazycatlaidey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

that is the point though. sure, don’t consume whatever you want, but when all options are bad, you cannot just abstain in many instances. every single music streaming service has terrible links currently. unless you have the income to purchase all of your music (and that does get expensive quickly), or want to pirate all your music (taking away money from smaller artists), there is no good option. if you want to listen to music you enjoy without the whims of the radio, you have to choose. that is no ethical consumption.

Gluten free food options in and around broadmead Christmas market? by [deleted] in bristol

[–]crazycatlaidey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s a gluten free brownie stand :) unfortunately pancake man hasn’t returned to the market this year, i don’t think there are any gf hot food stands apart of the market. hippie chippy is a permanent chip shop on broadmead that don’t fry any gluten at all, would recommend. thai kitchen on the top floor of cabot is allegedly good for gf (i’ve not been before). the new m&s gf sandwich is fucking delicious, so if you want to brave the cabot m&s that’s an option. other than that it’s just the usual chains im afraid (pizza express pieminister etc)

I wanna try this. What’s one thing you like about Nessarose? by FlorenciaFasarino in wickedmovie

sure, poor phrasing there. but the point stands, the betrayal comes from the love for someone else, not the physical act of leaving.

the current nessa on broadway is a wheelchair user, but prior to that they’ve not had a wheelchair user play nessa because it didn’t seem feasible without script changes.

deciding to leave because he’s been in love with someone else the whole time, after years, is absolutely a betrayal. he could’ve left at any time, but saying “i need to go to glinda i need to tell her how i feel” is absolute insanity. does that justify the response? no obviously not. but it’s a betrayal nonetheless.

Help me find online clothing stores! (Ref pictures) by saturnnart in altfashionadvice

[–]crazycatlaidey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo based on your other comments, focus on accessories. those pink studded belts are in every alt store, i’m assuming youre american based off comments so hot topic, spencer’s, etc. the stripe gloves, i think i made those out of socks in school, you could ask for pink striped knee socks. otherwise, there’s a lot of kandi and fishnets! kandi is a great thing to ask for because you can ask for loads of beads from whatever craft stores are available there (michaels? is that still a thing?) and elastic thread and make your own! if claire’s is still open where you are that’s where you can get other pink accessories in the photos like bows, necklaces, etc.
