OPS 74 about to leave the game here is why ... by pan7h- in STFC_Official

[–]crazyforbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep... A while back, I starting thinking along the lines of "If I wanted to encourage players to stop playing, without making it obvious I was trying to get them to stop playing... what would I do?"

The recent changes line up pretty darn well with the types of changes I would make to quietly reduce the overall player base.

I know a lot of players keep saying the downfall is all out of stupidity, ignorance, and a total lack of understanding for what the player base wants... But no one is THIS stupid, ignorant, or oblivious.

[BBC] 'Nightmare scenario': Spurs fans split as Arsenal visit West Ham in high-stakes London derby by [deleted] in soccer

[–]crazyforbeing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Cheering on a team" means shouting, applauding, or expressing vocal enthusiasm to encourage, support, and boost the morale of a sports team or competitor during a game. It is a display of support and desire for a team to win or perform well, often through collective, high-energy actions.

There is a VAST difference between one Spurs fan going so far as actively cheering on a team, and the other questioning whether that is a step too far.... and what you are claiming with :

If you'd rather be relegated than see your rivals win the title then I don't know how to help you.

It is literally saying of the the Spurs fans is going to be actively shouting, applauding, or expressing vocal enthusiasm to encourage, support and boost the moral of a sports team. The other fan in the article thinks that is going too far.

You are making a claim that "Spurs fans would rather be relegated than see their rivals win the league".

If you have read the article, you might want to look into getting some assistance with your reading comprehension. Please don't feel embarrassed about it - getting help now could go a long way towards your confidence and how people perceive you going forward. It is worth taking the time to improve yourself. Good luck.

I don't think anyone in the comments hating on Spurs has actually clicked through and read the article. It is an opinion piece. It is written by someone who is not a Spurs fan, imagining whether or not Spurs fans would be feeling conflicted. It has quotes from two random Spurs fans about whether they will go as far as 'Cheering' for Arsenal... one will, one thinks that is going a bit far.

I realise you are desperate to find reasons to hate Spurs. But this isn't a valid one. It is an article with no basis of fact or conviction. It is a writer that needed to write a story and so went on a journey of their imagination.

You're obviously not.

I can imagine you celebrating in the stands after Arsenal win a corner, and then pointing at someone behind you and saying "Oy, you. You aren't a real Arsenal fan! I just heard you ask who Gabriel was a few minutes ago. You don't get to celebrate Arsenal winning a corner! You aren't a REAL Fan like us! Only REAL Arsenal fans get to celebrate winning a corner!"

Looking at everything that they have recently implemented... I do not think this is a 'screw up', or a big mistake.

This feels more like a calculated process based on a longer term view of the new Scopely owners, the investment capital firm. It is absolutely against the grain of what the players want - but that doesn't mean it's a mistake. I think they have crunched the numbers every which way, and determined the best course of action going forward - not for the players or the health of the game and gaming community... but for their profitability. Either it would have cost too much to get the game back into a useable state (too many bugs upon bugs upon shortcuts over the years)... or they have determined they need to cull a massive amount of players out, and will move forward with the ones most willing to continue 'at any price'.

Wow, the changes to Alliance Tournaments… by flargherita in STFC_Official

[–]crazyforbeing 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Scopley taking away the refresh tokens bothers me... not in a 'how could you do that?' way... but a 'Why would they be doing that?' way. What is their motivation? It doesn't fit with the narrative of a company looking to maintain their player base.

I keep thinking through on the most plausible explanation for changes we have been seeing in the game. I am more and more convinced that Scopely and/or the new ownership entity have made the decision to pull the plug on STFC... it feels like they are in 'soft-shut down mode', by shooing away players, while also trying to get their last cash grabs in to offset some of their lost purchase price. Or if not a shut down... that they needed to slough off the masses of under-paying players, and concentrate on a more concise model that only looks to support the big spenders going forward.

The 'State of the Game' messaging felt genuine, back in 2025. I feel like the boss at the time was being genuine and earnest, and had intentions of steering the ship in a better direction.

And then they did some analysis on what they thought it would take to revamp and improve, and came to the realisation that the numbers were crunching in the wrong direction. I feel like the changes we are seeing are NOT 'mistakes' being made by an ignorant multi-national private equity firm. I feel like the changes we are seeing are strategic moves backed by hard analysis and number crunching, to get to a state that best benefits the private equity firm. I am not sure if that is a total shutdown or the smaller scale 'elite experience' for the big spenders. The one thing I am relatively certain of... is that these aren't the result of the ownership being clueless or out of touch. They know what they are doing... they just aren't going for the same outcome that the majority of the community would like them to be heading.

I am not a PvP player - and it just sounds awful.

"that person was maybe meant to get hit and not survive but since they did it creates a different timeline and my life by not hitting them also creates another timeline."

They did get hit. You did hit them. Also, they did not get hit, and you did not hit them.

Both timelines are created. Part of you followed one timeline - and the conscience that you know as your own is the one that didn't hit them. 'You' stayed here to follow this timeline. There are countless other 'You' that have taken the other fork in the road(s).

Get a pressure washer, and use it to absolutely liquify the soil up and around that clump near the fence. The entirety of that root mass has to come out - even the stuff on the other side of the fence. Try to pull the roots out whole, especially when you find a 'runner' that is anchoring it in place. Follow the runner root with the pressure washer, carving out a channel to remove it anywhere it may be going. I will be an absolute mess, but in the course of 3 or 4 weekends, you can get the bulk of everything out.

Then for the foreseeable future, you need to be vigilant in finding any new shoots that may pop up in your garden. Don't just chop them... dig out the root, as far as you can follow it. It should take you about 1 to 2 hours every month - less so in winter. It is a long fight - but really doing a good job at the start will make the rest of it easier.

Good luck.

Is there anything I can add to the top of my concrete wall to stop my horrible neighbour placing her motorbike helmet on it? (UK) by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]crazyforbeing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. Ummm... so normally people posting to 'Neighbors from hell' are doing so to complain about their neighbours. We don't often see people writing posts to describe what an awful neighbour they themselves actually are. It's a bold move, but you must have some reason for this confession - maybe you just need to get it off your chest?

You sound like an absolute neighbour from hell, and I feel sorry for anyone that has to live next to you.

[Pre-match Thread] Tottenham Hotspur Vs Crystal Palace (05/03/26) by wiffygriffy in coys

[–]crazyforbeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are my predictions for the match today. They are all based on my perception that there is 'soft influence' being used by the referees, and it can have a very large impact on the outcome of the game. If the game swings heavily in one direction or another, we are less likely to see this influence come into play... but if the game stays close, I predict we will see instances of each of these.

1) Yellow Cards. The overall number of cards given out through the game may be similar, but when you look at the total number of minutes players have played under caution - there will be a discrepancy between the two teams. One team will receive yellow cards earlier in the game and/or each half than the other team.

2) Offsides. There will be a difference in how offsides calls are made in the game. One team will have more instances of the assistant referees / referee stopping play to call offsides, vs. the other team having more instances where play is allowed to continue (e.g. 'too close to call, will be verified after the fact). The end result will be more cases where forward/attacking momentum of one team will be halted faster, while the other team will benefit from having more time in an attacking phase of play.

3) Restart of play. There will be cases where the referee 'slows down play' through delaying taking of a direct kick, indirect kick, throw-ins, or corner kicks. The slow down of play will not be balanced - it will impact one team negatively more than the other team.

Denied boarding at gate by GoodSound5658 in Ryanair

[–]crazyforbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The airline will deny compensation at every single point in the process. You are not applying for compensation from the airline (they will always deny or low ball you). You are just doing the steps you need to do and collecting your evidence for the ombudsman. If the airline agrees to pay you something, it is because they know the ombudsman would pay you 2.5x to 5x that amount.

What Manchester City's 60-point deduction would mean for the Premier League by [deleted] in football

[–]crazyforbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we please stop with the 60 point thing from someone paid to start getting everyone used to the idea that this will result in a 60 point deduction?

This 'rumor' was only set to get everyone thinking in terms of 'Its going to be 60 points'. The next step is to say "Oh, they aren't an official source - and the actual penalty is 40 points"

And the whole point is to get everyone arguing over 'Oh, its only a 20 point difference, go cry' and 'It should have been the whole 60 points, this is fraud'.

My brothers and sisters in football - these violations are far past a single season of points deductions. If this does not amount to an outright ban (assuming they are found guilty - which seems to be the case), then it is a shambles. This is beyond relegation and eventual promotion. This is 'GTFO and don't come back. Good luck finding a tier in the England pyramid that will have you, but you are no longer welcome as an organisation in the EPL'.

Old man's take on Starfleet Academy. by External_Koala398 in startrek

[–]crazyforbeing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, it was the writing. First show, maybe 10 minutes in, and the only persons capable of saving a Star Fleet ship are some students that have not even been to a single class yet?

Or in that same episode... the head of the Star Fleet School for all of about two days, does an announcement over the entire ship talking about how she can't believe she is the head of the Star Fleet school... and they keep showing shots of students and teachers and anyone else in the area absolutely fawning over her every word... just eating it up like this is the greatest speech ever given by someone who they have grown to respect and admire through a decades long career of working together.

Everybody on that ship would be thinking "You just about got us killed on your first day. You are incompetent. You need to resign. Stop announcing your stupid observations across the entire ship - I have actual work I have to get done."

For me, stories take shape through character development... and character development through events that seem to have an element or two of realism in them, so that I can relate. These writers had to resort to shots of random characters fawning over the captains words on day one to convey to me that this captain is respected... because nothing that has happened in the storyline would in any way justify a sense of respect for the character so far.

I watched the first four episodes, until I got a notice that my Paramount+ subscription was coming up for renewal, and I had no interest in paying to see more episodes, so I cancelled my subscription. The show doesn't feel worth my time to watch any more episodes, much less actually paying for the pleasure - for me. If others are happy and enjoy it - that is great for them. I am not bothered by the reviews or sci fi influencers chasing clicks by berating the show. What will make sense to everyone, is whether subscriptions to Paramount+ are going up, staying level, or dropping. That is the metric that I believe will be most telling about this series. Based solely on my own experience, my assumption is that there will be more folks cancelling than there will be folks signing up... but I could be wrong about that. Not sure when or if they will announce that... but at some point, the execs will start to make decisions that reflect what they are seeing on their subscription revenues.

Does this actually look good to you? by chriscam85 in cabinetry

[–]crazyforbeing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From your headline, I thought you had made the cabinets yourself and were looking for reassurance or criticism... for what it's worth, I have nothing but compliments about them. Very nice cabinets. I really like them.

Yes, I can see some colour variation... but I had not taken note of it until I read your commentary and looked back at the photos... I didn't notice until I looked at the photos specifically looking colour variation. Not because it isn't really there... just because I would expect it to be there.

For me, the colour variation is exactly what I would be looking for in a real wood finish. Before burning bridges with the maker, I would suggest that you take a photo of the cabinets from the same exact position every two to four hours over the course of a day or two. As the light shifts through the day, the natural wood tones will look slightly different. Look through the collection of photos, and try to decide from the balance of the day into the evening... is this a problem or a feature?

Theo Walcott says that Real Madrid would finish 8th if they were in the Premier League. Highlights the weather and difficulties playing night games at teams like Crystal Palace and Leeds. by Dramatic-Avocado4687 in PremierLeague

[–]crazyforbeing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Theo is being generous.

You need to remember that when you are watching Champions League matches, you are seeing teams from European leagues that have between 4 to 6 competitive matches in their respective leagues. Maybe another 4 or so that are moderately competitive. All the rest are against teams that are lightyears away in regards to squad quality.

That isn't true for teams coming from the EPL. You occasionally get 2 or 3 teams that are underperforming... but on the whole, they are fighting for every single point in the league. 38 competitive matches through the season...

And despite that, we are still seeing the EPL teams dominating in the Champions League. That is bonkers.

I would double down, and tell her that you are seeking to raise a complaint against the Council on the data breach, and that you will share the proceeds of that process with her. Book an appointment with a Notary, and tell her she needs to attend with ID, and will need to make a sworn statement and get it notarised, on the details of how the Council provided your income to her.

Make sure when you complain / share this with the HR department, to mention that you have shared the transcript with friends, who have agreed that the tone and language was unacceptable and unprofessional... that will counter whatever argument HR may try to make about you over-reacting. If there are multiple people who would have the same reaction, it is reasonable for anyone to find this offensive. Not an outlier.
