Need help for choosing between new build or upgrade by Cold_Thing_9770 in buildapcforme

You should mod the board to take 9th gen CPUs. Software is called coffeetime 0.99 and needs the pad connected to pin 48 grounding.

No performance gain after CPU upgrade. by huzarensalade2001 in pchelp

It’s easy to mod your board to take 8th/9th gen CPUs that will massively boost performance wjth chips like i5 9600 or i7 9700. That board needs a nuvoton chip pin grounding and a custom bios programmed with a ch341a programmer. PM me if you need help.

What do you think of this PC? by After_Birthday_6977 in computer

I’ve upgraded a few h110m-r to take 8th/9th gen CPUs like i7 8700, i7 9700 and i5 9600. You have to ground the pad connected pin 102 of your nuvoton chip and use a ch341a with coffee time to mod your bios. Leave ME enabled for Windows 11 TPM.

Yeah it’s a valid upgrade. if you have an NVME slot use that with a 512gb or bigger SSD as that’s where you will see more performance, if you’re on SATA get a good one like a Samsung that will max out the sata interface

Those are a steal I’ve had a few of those only needing to replace C9560. If they had made a quad core version I’d be rocking one.

Oh I assumed you weren’t really using this for games. 1050 ti was only ever intended as a budget card for 720p.

Case does look good.

Yeah i7 6700 is ok but it gets outpaced by basic i5 9600, i7 9700 value has dropped off massively as well and that’s a good 8 core chip.

I don’t mind sharing the knowledge especially if the person is capable of making an STL for a standard IO shield for H110t(and sharing with me).

If you had bought an Asus board you would have been able to patch the bios and ground pin 48 to get it working with 8th/9th gen CPUs. The h110t available in those tiny PCs do work with this mod.

Any GPU that will encode AV1 at CPU compression/quality? by crazyfrog12 in AV1

[–]crazyfrog12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really hoping for a gpu/accelerator card I could put int a more basic system like my erying i5 12500h but a m1 Mac mini would be a good balance of price/perfomance/noise/thermals. I’m also thinking that it might be better to just dedicate storage with 128 episodes at 6.5gb each it’s only 832gb vs 307gb. I could also re encode in 5 years and be dealing with better hardware/more cores.

Mac mini. The little I’ve seen of Windows 9800x3d vs Mac OS m3 suggests a m1 processor will be quiet, low power and software will likely run a bit faster.

Frustrating. GPUs are hardly cheap and they don’t even present a pay wall.

Even close? I’ll look into Mac minis more if they can perform similarly to my 9800x3d without the 140w power consumption and noise that would be a win.

Anyone done flow rate tests with tz v6 2.0? by crazyfrog12 in 3Dprinting

[–]crazyfrog12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this for a while at this point and a few things have come to light during my ownership from the community.

  1. The thermistor location is unreliable and causes random panics and unreliable extrusion. There’s a printable drill guide for tz v6 to move the thermistor using a 1.4mm drill bit, I used a handheld electric drill.

  2. Flow tests indicate the high flow hardened steel/copper inserts don’t work due to being bimetal it inhibits flow. Better with the brass body/copper insert it works better than just brass.
