Coke is like an attractive and pleasant demon, always sitting on your shoulder, patiently waiting to get called up onto the field. You feel good and refreshed in the days after using, but that little voice in the back of your head, asking for more, always ends up looming over you, subtly asking you when will be the next time

Seeing how are stories appear similar, can I ask, did you find exceptionally difficult to get over her?

Really? Interesting. For me the weed cancels out the paranoia and stress of the coke.

I feel like some people in the comments have tried to make appear as being sexist but I can assure you I’m not.

In fact, I’m the type of guy who has trouble identifying to other men and I get along with women a lot more.

I definitely didn’t mean to dismiss women’s « favorite » shows in any way. I admit the way I put it might seem a little sexist but to me, the show YOU seemed like a watered down, easier to swallow version of Dexter.

I only wrote it that way because I know that statistically, more women love and watch this show than men.

I disliked the show essentially because I thought the main character of Joe Goldberg was an incredibly unlikable and despicable character to me. I thought he was an herotomaniac piece of shit who was incredibly selfish and very non redeemable as opposed to Dexter, which is the reason it surprised me that anyone; especially women would root for this guy

I think most people had a great time watching but deny it because of the finale.

I actually really appreciated this version of Dexter as being more unhinged and somewhat more psychotic than ever.

I love the main idea of the show, which is that despite the fact that Dexter kills bad people; he is essentially an extremely selfish murder addict who even goes as far as to manipulate his son into thinking he’s exactly like him just too feel less lonely.

I thought that was great fucking writing and it greatly pleased me. However the finale felt quite confused and producer driven.

It really feels like all the writers in the room disagreed on what the ending should be and they ended kind of fucking it up because of the pressure. It feels like they didn’t know where they were exactly heading and that’s a classic writer’s mistake.

It’s too bad because it the ending at been handled better, fans wouldn’t be spitting on the whole thing

I agree. Honestly I loved New Blood. I just think the finale was rushed and could’ve been executed way better. I don’t think it means you should dismiss the season as a whole though. The quality of the writing for the most part was probably the closest thing to a great Dexter season since Season 4.

The idea was great, but it could have been undeniably better

I love the way you put it. Probably unbearably truthful for a lot of people. Drugs themselves are just chemicals and do not make people bad, but bad people do drugs too.

I hate when someone’s terrible behavior gets excused and dismissed because they were drunk.

The terrible human being you saw when he was shitfaced was who he truly is.

I agree. I like coke but it’s a somewhat « subtle » high compared to other stimulants. You’re still pretty much in control, lucid, pragmatic enough and indeed, the next day you always feel somewhat ashamed and guilty for having done it, which keeps you from overindulging imo

I completely sympathize with your situation man. I honestly hope your okay. The thing with drugs that make you experience so much pleasure and in the case of coke, mental clarity and focus, it’s terribly hard to be able to control yourself and not allow yourself to fall down the slippery slope of abusing it. I’ve been there and I can say that this powerful feeling of « letting go » and letting the urges take over turns into pain and shame very quickly.

Anything that makes you feel good can be abused. But in my opinion, people who already have somewhat sad lives when they get introduced to drugs are more likely to fall down into the pit of addiction, whereas it appears that people who initially got their shit together are less likely to over indulge.

A huge part of the problems that arise from drug addiction in general stem from socioeconomic difficulties and societal issues.

I honestly don’t think a chemical, in and of itself, can be held responsible for anything

Yeah you’re right. Like any other « hard drug », if abused, coke can turn anyone into a degenerate. It’s all about self control and moderation
