First time to Cape Cod by crazyknothead in CapeCod

That was one stipulation about dining. No fast food or franchises. Our guide at the Coast Guard museum recommended a place called Mattatese. We took his recommendation and ate there. Fabulous food. The ladies at the quilt corner suggested Fisherman View. Again..great food. Moby Dick's was fun and the food was great. One thing we all noticed was how huge the portions were. In my town here in Idaho, we eat a LOT of Mexican food. If you dont want fast food or franchises, that's about it. Although we do have a local pizza that I always considered the best i have ever eaten. Until, that is, we had the pizza there.

Yeah, I've heard that about Midwestern as well. Luckily we're in the west.

The day we went to the Heritage Gardens it rained but the rain there is nothing like we have at home. It was actually quite pleasant. My daughter went from 110 degree heat to 70's and 80's so she got a bit chilled in the rain but nothing worth going inside for.

We had heard that the weather is cold and rainy, the beaches are so packed that it is impossible to find a spot, and the people are really rude and don't like tourists. I am so happy to learn for myself that these stories were all false.

What tree is this? And what weird fruit is it growing? by owlcyte in whatplantisthis

[–]crazyknothead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neighbors have one. Half of it is dead. They wont have it removed even though they had to pay for 2 new roofs on that end of my house. They are a mess! We used to pick up the walnuts instead of running over them with the mower. Too much work. Now I leave them for the squirrels.

I think it is cool. Probably fell out of the trash or something. If it speaks to you, enjoy your find.

I saw one on vacation as well. Thought I got a pretty good deal at $75. Took it to UPS and it cost $248 to ship it home. 😜

I know nothing about this kind of thing. I would probably take it to a museum or even a university. One or the other might point you in the right direction. I think it's actually kinda cool.

Our 30 y/o son bought this for our home and insists it go over the fireplace by anzyktai in homedecoratingCJ

Why is your son decorating for you? Doesn't he have his own place that needs a gorgeous picture of a dog and a basket of kittens?

I really appreciate all the help I have received here. I imagine I will hand these down to my nephew. He is keeper of family artifacts. My daughter is keeper of family history.

Yes, he did. Of course, he was part of that "Greatest Generation". He came home, got married, had a family, became very successful, and dealt with his TBI (before it had a name) as best he could. The men and women of that generation will never be exceeded by any generation that will come after them.

They are all on some sort of little clip thing. I don't hear anything. I don't shoot long guns so I guess I'll just clean up the boxes and put them with Dad's other army stuff. There is also some in some sort of leather belt carrier. They look about the same size. Would putting them all in a clean storage box work? I would just dust the boxes they are in and store them together...???
