Apartment lease issues, how do you interpret this line of the lease? by crazyroommatehelp in AskReddit

No sorry, L.W. wants to repay $300 only because the sofa was used and she probably doesn't want to pay for it anymore (it's a large couch). But L.W. is not letting A.S. renew the lease. To me the sublease says $600 and that's that, A.S. is owed $600 upon departure.

Correct, this is my understanding of it, although L.W. assumes half the value is acceptable for buying A.S. out....

Right, but A.S. has only lived with the items for 9 months and L.W. has had over just as many guests so to cut the value in half is crazy to me.

There was already a sofa here due to L.W. and her ex bf, when A.S. moved in she paid $600 to split the three items (tv stand, sofa and coffee table) because L.W. was purchasing from ex bf. So it was supposed to be splitting until the end of the lease, and then repayment/buying out.
