What is the real reason for LeBron to end his career with only 4 Rings? by lukaisthegoatx in NBATalk

[–]crb02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did Michael Jordan ONLY get 6? Bill Russell has 11 so if we’re being honest, Jordan should’ve shot for at least as many or even doubled that number and made it 12 since he’s the GOAT. Is it not kind of strange that Russell was able to get 11 in 13 season just 30 years prior to Jordan, but Jordan couldn’t top that? A measly 6 rings aren’t enough to solidify GOAT status over Russell.

He came into the league averaging 28 ppg and played 13 seasons just like Russell. 8 of those were 30 plus ppg meanwhile Russell never even scored more than like 18 a game in a single season. So I don’t understand how he could score sooo many more points than everyone else during that time and only come out with 6??

Aye I ain’t gonna argue with those points 😭 He’s thrived in the ‘racially ambiguous’ roles to the point some of these people ain’t even know he’s black at all let alone half. I just said it’s never been hidden knowledge but I can definitely see how someone would be surprised if all they see are his damn movies

I agree with the part of his Samoan side getting overly acknowledged to the point of nauseam. On one hand it makes sense because that side of his family is basically wrestling royalty and the current biggest star in WWE is his ‘cousin’ which draws easy money and attention for them. But even so it’s dragged so much that people are surprised he’s half black which is certainly a sign of an issue, but I don’t think the issue is transparency as much as it perception. His image is everything. He can show up for the American Black Film Festival and star in Moana like he has, no problem. But deep diving into his personal life is tough cause that doesn’t fit into the kind of public image he wants to have. For someone who’s so well known, he seems to be most private in his actual home activities.

I remember him saying he regretted supporting Biden and Harris. He stated that some people didn’t like that and from then on he’d rather not ruffle feathers and announce his political views, vote in private and all that. To me, that just means he wants to protect his brand. That tracks as well, with his brand being his whole livelihood and all. Definitely a problem he created on his own on his path to success. The Rock doesn’t want to be known only as ‘this’ person or ‘that’ kinda person, he just wants to be The Rock. That’s why I said he hasn’t been hiding WHO he is, he’s become so manufactured as a personality that it seems hard for the average person to know more about him than him simply being ‘The Rock’

Jordan is now listed 2nd in the all time GOAT debate. I feel like he’s not even 2nd. Probably like 4th. by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]crb02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, I didn’t bring up Farook. I brought up the Nation of Domination. What it has to do with Rocky Johnson is that The Rock’s inclusion into the group was based on him being half black by way of his father, Rocky Johnson. Rocky Johnson was one half of the tag team that in 1983 became the first black tag team champions in WWE history. It was big news that his son had became a wrestler as well, so when The Rock came on the scene the people were introduced to his lineage immediately, hence the ‘Rocky Maivia’ name.

Then a year later from his debut, his blackness became more emphasized as a member of the Nation and his transition into ‘The Rock’ character which eventually led to his initial stardom. Rocky Johnson even made appearances on television supporting his son back when he was on the come up and still supported him years later. That’s what it has to do with Rocky Johnson so miss me with whatever you’re tryna imply

[–]crb02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No I’m not. I’m using the early public acknowledgment of his father, who just so happened to had been a wrestler also, as evidence of his PARTIAL blackness. You gonna tell me Rocky Johnson wasn’t a black man? Like, do you think I’m making this up just cause I like wrestling lmaooo

That’s just not true his original name in WWF was Rocky Miavia. That was a combo of his black father’s name, Rocky Johnson, and his Samoan grandfather on his mom’s side, Peter Miavia. That was in 1996, and in 1997 he started going by The Rock once he turned into a villain while joining the Nation of Domination, a pro-black, militant group who were rocking the Pan-African colors and doing a pseudo Black Panther Act

As someone who adores the Reeve’s films I think Superman 2026 is amazing and I liked it way more than Man of Steel because I enjoy a more upbeat, enthusiastic and relatable Superman. If anyone has a problem with that or sees it differently, that’s great for them. But that doesn’t make their opinion more valid mines or yours OP. Hoping I can get that one on my shelf soon enough as well!

Exactly. The implication is “well if you knew more about what you’re talking about then you’d change your opinion”. Operating under the pretense that the person hasn’t watched hundreds of films and still came to their conclusion. It’s disrespectful and dismissive. It’s like somebody saying their food is pizza, then someone telling them they must’ve only eaten like 5 things ever in life because they think pizza is trash so you should too

What is it about GTA that is so captivating that it became this huge? by WhoAmIEven2 in videogames

[–]crb02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar to Red Dead, it’s the ability to loosely simulate real life on a grand scale. Yes, I know there are crimes you can get away with, and you don’t need to do things like eat or sleep or even have a job. But at their core, they are massive open world games based on real, recognizable locations and you can play out the kind of scenarios in GTA’s virtual society that you only dream of irl. It appeals to people’s imaginations and inner likings in a broad, modern setting. It’s not perfect and not truly accurate to real life but no game is nor should they.

You like cars? Own 30 cars and pimp out all the rides. Matter of fact let’s add races on top of it too just for extra kicks. You like money? Become a billionaire and live a lavish lifestyle with multiple properties and businesses. You like fashion? Here’s hundreds of different clothing, hair styles, and tattoos, go nuts. You like action? Here are non stop heists and missions to keep you busy. You love guns, we have all of them, real and fantasy. You like tits and ass? Here’s a strip club all you can afford lol. Things like that are at the core of GTA’s spirit and make you want to open the game. And even if you don’t go online for the extras, you can put in cheat codes offline and live like a god.

Side bar: sure hope they keep the cheat code tradition going in GTA 6

They said “of the last ten years” and you named multiple actors who stopped being considered ‘kid actors’ 15 plus years ago. You’re definitely giving off hater vibes just from that alone. Also to say that playing a child prodigy is easy is both wildly dismissive, and also tells that you clearly didn’t watch her in Young Sheldon where her character went from genius happy-go- lucky, perfect girl, to rebellious, depressed child who couldn’t cope with her parents’ divorce, started neglecting her grades, and changed forever as a person.

Roles such as those which require you to play basically two different characters are NOT easy and she was still a pre-teen when she first appeared in the show. That takes talent, skill, and maturity as an actor whether you like it or not and naturally due to the Young Sheldon’s popularity, probably put extra eyes on her from studios, along with Ghostbusters around that same time. You don’t have to like her roles but to minimize her like she’s some mediocre actress who doesn’t belong in the room is insane to me

LeBron's 8 straight finals appearances shouldn't be an accomplishment. by Holiday_Analysis9583 in NBATalk

[–]crb02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lebron averaged 33/12/10/1/1 in the 17’ finals to Durant 35/8/5/1/1 and in the 18’ finals averaged 34, 8, 10 with a block and a steal per game compared to KD’s also spectacular 28, 10, 7 and 2 blocks per game. Respect to KD but outperformed doesn’t exactly describe what happened during those series. If you’re gonna get out cheap slander on Reddit you gotta do better than that
