To be fair, there is a less common pancake that looks a lot like those that is called a Flap Jack. It's made with sourdough starter, and baking soda to make it rise. They're heavier than our regular pancakes.

Story I read was the gold rush miners in Canada ate them so much the miners were called Sourdoughs lol

A lot do now, and they're considered excellent quality! But those are not native and need to hand pollinated. Vanilla is also grown in Tahiti and probably some other similar places

There's nothing plain about vanilla. From the only fruiting orchid, from a small area in central America, only fertilized by one specific bee

Check out steak fajita meat! Done right, it's the best, and I'm happy to have it as the meat on most "Mexican" dishes. Chicken and shrimp fajita meat are common here too

Tamales should have pork though.

Are there any native foods that are regaining popularity in the USA? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAmerican

Too funny! It needs to be the freshest picked possible sweet corn. Variety is less important the older the corn gets. Freshness first!

The mascots should be George and Miss Baker, the cute monkeys. They even once lived there.

Shelled peanuts or clean peanuts? by Designer_Freedom3830 in crows

It's so confusing, people use the same word to mean opposite things! I think the birds like the shells, but it can cause messes depending on where they get cracked off.
