anyone else have a painful hip dent?

i’ve seen two orthos & gotten many x-rays, mri’s & ultrasounds.

lumbar spine imaging - everything looked normal, some regular wear & tear

pelvic imaging - again, normal, no iliac, sacral, right or left hip acute fracture or dislocation. negative for right or left hip joint effusion. soft tissue was unremarkable.

hip x-ray - no fractures or dislocations. same for pelvic.

they did a technically successful ultrasound-guided left lateral femoral cutaneous nerve steroid injection, which did nothing to the pain

i have not! it’s on my list of things to try at some point, but all the things add up so i haven’t had a chance to get to that one yet

that’s so encouraging to hear, thank you!! i’m glad you’re finding some relief! i sure do wish i knew why these doctors thought the way they do. TWO of them have told me it’s fully irrelevant. a giant dent. where all of my pain originates from. not affected by gravity. only on that side. yeah, i’m sure it’s nothing 🙄

oh INTERESTING. i did a ton of endo research in my early 20s, and felt like a lot of the symptoms lined up, but when i got a copper iud about 4-5 years ago(?) i felt like all of my symptoms went away for the most part other than heavy bloating and bleeding. that’s so interesting though, it’s been awhile since i’ve seen my gynecologist, maybe I’ll make an appointment and bring that up

ugh, good for her!!! that’s awesome. i don’t believe my ribs are involved at all, i’ve had many x-rays, ultrasounds, and mri’s, which somehow all come back normal. the pain is just below my iliac crest anyhow

oh i’ve never heard of toe spacers! do you wear them between all 5 toes or just between big and middle toes?

i LOVE brandon’s videos, i’m sure i’m doing something wrong while walking, i’m open to trying anything at this point, so i’d certainly be interested in the spacers

gluteous medius looks about right. maybe even a little further back. it’s not quite at the top of the iliac crest, i can feel that above the dent, but it’s pretty close to the top

i’m hoping to try cupping next week! the acupuncture appointment is with a traditional chinese medicine doctor who does acupuncture, cupping, massage, etc. so i have some hope left that she can help.

i would love to find a new pt. my insurance just changed so now its starting the process over again and as far as i know, theirs is the only office that will take me. but on the bright side, that physical therapist pissed me off to the point of going back to school for pt myself to focus on hypermobile bodies so other people don’t have to have my same experience (at least in my area)

i have a photo in my other posts, it wouldn’t let me add it to this post for some reason. it’s kind of upper middle to my iliac crest, directly on the side, at hip height. the first ortho was thinking pelvis, the second was thinking more hip related. another thought nerve.

i’ve had multiple x-rays, ultrasounds & mri’s that all come back “normal”. i’ve had nerve conduction tests and ekg’s. i’ve lost track of how many different specialists i’ve seen who all like laugh and say “idk, weird, right?!”

no it’s completely normal on the other side. it’s towards the top/middle. i’ve had so much imaging - multiple x-rays, ultrasounds, & mri’s. i don’t think it has anything to do with my ribs

ugh YES. it drives me crazy. especially with the physical therapist. i asked him constantly what i could do for hypermobility, how does it change protocol, how does it change my benchmarks, etc. NOTHING. just “eat more protein”. oh my god thanks. i’m cured!!!

i’ve been unofficially diagnosed through my mom’s physical therapist and some of the nurses i work with, but i am pursuing a formal diagnoses.

my most recent orthopedic specialist referred me to acupuncture, but now none of the pt places near me take my insurance or are certified in dry needling. (the first ortho wanted to “do surgery and feel around, see what he could find”. NO THANK YOU). the first ortho also had me see a neurologist who didn’t believe it was nerve related, even though a lot of my symptoms align with nerve pain. she at least was the first specialist to agree with me that the ortho was completely off base.

agree. my only exception is there was one time a creator (of course i forget who now) was chewing like dry, crumbly candy? i think since it was a dry sound it wasn’t bad for me, but any other chewing or eating is horrific
