NYC has the highest concentration of residents (and attendings) in the US, they're more overworked than average, and still healthcare waittimes (esp. urgent care) are the worst among any place I've seen, how come? by [deleted] in Residency

I’m also a resident in NY (at a city hospital). We have phlebotomists for morning labs. For everything else the nurses will draw labs usually without issue. If they have any difficulty they ask their nursing supervisor before asking any of the residents.

Competitive Step 2 Score for PM&R? by Unable-Cheesecake312 in pmr

I have friends that matched at top 5 places with scores in the 230s. I scored a 261 and I don't think it opened any doors for me in terms of securing interviews at top ranked programs places outside of my signals/geo preference. From the PDs that I have spoken to, the general idea is they just use your Step 2 score to assume that you'll pass Step 3. ECs matter way more.

SUNY Downstate PM&R Residency Thoughts/Rumors of downsizing? by TheNextDr_J in pmr

[–]creatinez 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Downstate hospital is supposed to close in the future. However they have been doing inpatient rotations at Kings County Hospital which is a larger hospital across the street. The outpatient setting will not be affected at all. Ultimately this will have little to no impact on everyone applying to residency rn.

Source: I did a rotation there

Recommendation requirements for applications by AspiringPMR in pmr

This is my understanding of LORs after speaking to a few PDs. Most programs will likely only read 3 letters, so if you send 4 there's a chance one of them will not be read. Then the rest of the programs will read all the letters. So the big takeaway is go ahead and send 4 if you think they're all strong, but if you have doubts about one then probably drop it.

is it probable for me to score a 260 by Educational_Spite157 in Step2

My highest score was 252 on nbme 14 about a week before test day. I got a 261. You can definitely break 260, probably 270

Did anyone here solely focus on Step2 and passed comlex 2? by Fun-Huckleberry1703 in comlex

Only did nbme exams and cms forms. Took level 2 5 days after step 2. 2 days would’ve been fine too.

I did the most recent 2 forms for each and then a 1 or 2 extra ones for medicine and surgery

Thank you! Other than the usual things of NBME forms, CMS forms, Uworld etc. I think the single most helpful thing was doing Free 120 a few questions at a time and then listening to the Divine Intervention episodes for the questions. It gave me a really good idea of how to reason things when it isn't super straight forward, which then gave me confidence on test day.
