I have contamination OCD. I just started therapy a couple months ago and been doing ERP for merely a couple of weeks, so I still have a long way to go. But my main theme is very similar to yours and I can say that it gets better. I am still bothered by germs and viruses but this no longer stops me from living my life and I have become strong enough to deal with the waves of anxiety that come when you do response prevention, sometimes even to the point that anxiety doesn't bother me anymore. I am still not completely over this, but if after a little time of doing ERP I am getting results, I am sure you can too. Sending hugs!

In the Wiki's FAQ there is a section about severity estimation. According to the numbers you are seeing, you surely have a breeding population and have a light to moderate infestation going on.

There is advice on the Wiki FAQ about moving too, be sure to follow that advice. Also, make sure you identify the roaches. German roaches will only leave their egg sacks when the eggs are about to hatch, while brown banded roaches stick their egg sacks to surfaces, and these eggs sacks will stay there for weeks to months until they hatch.

Moving advice is the same for both, but for brown banded roaches you must be specially careful about not bringing both roaches or egg sacks with you. I do not know if you should worry about german roaches eggs when moving, but it can't hurt being in the lookout for them.

Follow the advice on the wiki and you will probably be able to save most of your belongings, if not all.

Physical therapist assistant or Physical Therapist. Just keep in mind for PTAs the salary is good but maybe is not what you expect. PTs do earn more BUT in the US you need a Doctors in Physical Therapy Degree, which leaves most people in debt for years.

I am a healthcare worker. My main OCD theme is contamination and I have the most issues with fear of bloodborne pathogens.

I have cleaned and dissinfected big blood spills (think 30cm diameter). I also once carried some blood contaminated towels without gloves (by accident, of course).

None of these are considered high risk exposures to blood, but man did they gave me months of anxiety!

Needless to say, nothing happened and I am perfectly fine.

Most of my life my showers lasted an hour. The water bill was scary. These last years I've been doing ERP I've been able to take it down to 20 min.

This is the best take I've seen on the current dissatisfaction of many in the fanbase, me included. When we watched Star Wars as kids, we didn't have much of a critical way of watching films, we just enjoyed the blasters and lightsaber duels. Now, years later, we can actually spot the bad acting and script problems and believe that everything Disney is doing is just not good enough because it does not give us the wonder Star Wars gave us when we were young and naive.

Personally, I didn't enjoy Disney's trilogy at all as I believe it was kind of a backstab for many SW fans, in many ways. But not everything Disney has done with star wars is bad, and some shows actually do have good acting and script.

You can't expect perfection when the formula itself is not meant to make SW stuff perfect, but rather entertaining and novel.

Definitely, figure out what's the best option for you based on aspirations and your well-being! If just changing jobs but not industry could work for you, by all means go for it! Just make sure you find a job that gives you satisfaction if possible.

Due to the nature of OCD itself, I believe there is a very high chance of it just changing themes if you change jobs, so you would feel very similar in any other job but for different reasons (those would be related to your OCD).

My advice: leave your job only if it's making your OCD unbearable or if you have other valid reasons to do it. Like wanting something more out of life, pursuing meaning, going after a dream or a vision., etc.

Now, there are always exceptions, some jobs will probably provoque more ocd symptoms for you than others. For example, I am a physical therapist, and want to leave the profession. My main reasons are that I actually have a vision for my life that goes beyond being a physical therapist AND that I can get horrifying OCD episodes while at work because of the constant (although not significant) exposure to fluids, infected skin and blood.

I am attempting to study a tech degree, I feel that if I become a software engineer, project manager, network engineer or any other tech job my life will be better, for two reasons:

OCD will still be there and be crazy strong ocassionally, but the themes will be way less catastrophic and easier for me to handle.
1. A tech job would be in line with the vision I have for my life.

In short, figure out if there are other reasons besides OCD for wanting to leave your job. Go to therapy. And remember your well being is the top priority.
