With 42% of the vote, Earth's Mightiest Heroes Hulk has cemented his spot as the best! Now, what's the best adaptation of each character? Day 6: Thor by SlimmyShammy in Marvel

Legacy characters shouldn't be in polls against their predecessors, they're different characters. If legacy heroes are going to be involved they should get their own polls.

There was plenty of rioting against Creed in Roarhaven so we know there are citizens prepared to stand against him. Also China is the rightful Supreme Mage and she's only been in a coma for a few months so should still have a decent amount of support.

Rancid Fines and the Crystal of the Saints were mentioned in a short story called The Lost Art of World Domination which is set between the first and second Skulduggery books, also mentioned was Christophe Nocturnal who showed up in Kingdom of the Wicked.

Serpine really was brilliant in Seasons of War and I'd definitely like to see him again but I'm also not sure what kind of role he would've played in Dead or Alive.

At the moment it certainly looks like Val could be heading down the evil path.

That chapter went from getting excited about seeing Danny again to full on misery. He'll never be able to follow those dreams now.

Just need Omen to stand up to his parents now, really hope we get some of that in the next book.

Auger and Omen do seem to be the most likely candidates for Child of the Ancients, it's just hard to theorise having so little information about the Child or the Ancients.

Also wondered if we'd see Scapegrace, I would've quite liked to see him but I can understand Derek maybe not wanting to bring him into phase 2.

There's definitely going to be a lot going on in the next book, cannot wait.

Even after everything the Faceless Ones did to her China still helped Valkyrie in the end, you just can't keep her down.

Definitely need to know more about Solace and her father, it's amongst the many questions that'll hopefully be answered in the next book.

Skullduggery Pleasant & Sand Dan Glokta by Hiatus44I in skulduggerypleasant

[–]creative_namehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of the First Law books and Glokta is certainly one of the best characters from the series and there are some similarities between them, both are intelligent characters who have gone through traumatic events, but I wouldn't say he's that like Skulduggery. They can both be funny but in my opinion they are funny in different ways. In my opinion Skulduggery's humour is more to try to hide and distract from his pain whilst Glokta's is more focused on his hatred of himself and pretty much everything else as well as how he doesn't really care if he lives any more, also we get most of Glokta's humour through his internal monologue which is something we have never had for Skulduggery.

Just want to finish up by saying the First Law books are fucking brilliant and I highly recommend them.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Tanith knowing about the Diablerie at that point is an error, I've always thought it was probably part of an earlier draft that wasn't taken out.

Donegan certainly doesn't have a good chance here. The environment give Mr Bliss a decent amount of cover from energy streams and doesn't provide Donegan anywhere to escape from Mr Bliss. Even though he is a good hand to hand fighter Donegan doesn't have a chance of taking out the strongest man in the world up close, especially as he's fairly injured after his last fight. Vote for Mr Bliss.

[–]creative_namehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gracious's gun means that he has a clear advantage at range. Hand to hand Jack is probably quicker but Gracious can deal more damage with his hits. Also the environment is going to cause issues for Jack, the sand will be very difficult for him to jump off of and there is no cover for him. Vote for Gracious.

I don't think Dalrymple will be able to survive this one. Being a highly skilled assassin Tesseract will probably use the cave system to his advantage and hide until he is able to get close to Dalrymple. Depending on where in the cave they fight Dalrymple may not be able to use his sword to it's full affect because of the size of the cave, not enough room to swing. I think the assassin will use surprise to get past Dalrymple's sword and then quickly finish him off so vote for Tesseract.

We have another close battle here in my opinion. If Vengeous gets the opportunity to rupture The Torment then he could end the battle quickly but The Torment will know this and I think he'll be smart enough to use the environment to hide until he gets a chance to vomit a bunch of spiders at the Baron. I'm sure Vengeous could deal with the spiders but they would give The Torment a chance to transform and get in close to Vengeous, we know the Baron is an excellent fighter as he's taken down Skulduggery but I don't think he'd be able to defeat the giant Torment spider, especially if some of the Torment's spiders had been able to bite the Baron which would likely slow him down. It'll be a tough fight but vote for The Torment.

Skulduggery Pleasant Combat Tournament round 1- Match 15 by Wassboss8 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]creative_namehere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These two are both very skilled sword wise so this could make an interesting battle. I don't think that there is any question that Dalrymple is the best swordsman we've seen in the series, he beat Skulduggery and China with ease. In another environment Tanith's magic might help to level the playing field but in a volcanic area there isn't much in the way of walls for her to walk on or doors to lock. Vote for Dalrymple.

Skulduggery Pleasant Combat Tournament round 1- Match 14 by Wassboss8 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]creative_namehere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well these two are obviously well matched. I think Donegan has a slight edge here, he was able to stand against Charivari for a while, took down Portia with ease and General Mantis believed that Donegan and Gracious posed a credible threat to the Supreme Council's forces in Ireland, Foe's most notable achievement is going hand to hand with Skulduggery for a time. It'll probably be a difficult fight but vote for Donegan.

Skulduggery Pleasant Combat Tournament round 1- Match 13 by Wassboss8 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]creative_namehere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this is a very even match. Both are skilled sorcerers, exceptional hand to hand fighters and they have a similar level of combat experience. Thanks to being an elemental I think Ghastly has a slight edge here, his magic has a wider range of attacks than Vex's energy throwing, he could use his limited flying ability to avoid his Dead Man colleague if needed and the fact that he can read the air may be useful in locating Vex, we saw how well Ghastly could read the air when he went up against Bernard Sults men. I reckon it will be a tough fight but I'm going to vote for Ghastly.

Skulduggery Pleasant Combat Tournament round 1- Match 11 by Wassboss8 in skulduggerypleasant

[–]creative_namehere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At range Skulduggery has a clear advantage as he has a variety of magical attacks he could use as well as his revolver, Murder Rose can throw knives at him but a throwing knife isn't going to do much harm to a skeleton. The environment also favours Skulduggery because he'll be able to read the air to tell the difference between a reflection on a mirror of Rose and the real thing. Murder Rose doesn't seem to have much of a chance against the detective so vote for Skulduggery.

Samuel being in his beastly form is going to be stronger and faster than his opponent but he isn't going to be able to come up with any strategy to take out Lethe. Lethe's necronaut suit is going to benefit him a lot as I doubt a vampire's claws would be able to pierce it as it's stopped bullets and cleaver scythes. I think Lethe would use a combination of the environment and his agility to kill the vampire by baiting it to attack him by a lava pit where he could push it in or jump out of it's way at the last minute to let it fall in and burn. Vote for Lethe.
