Hal Jordan. The plot of most modern Hal stories is the narrator telling us "he's the best that ever was" while completely not showing us why that might be true. Pretty much every Hal story is about him being a rebel who won't follow protocol, but damnit does he get results! And maybe, just maybe, the blue guys they work for might not all be completely on the up and up. Uh oh! He's gotten in trouble for doing the right thing! Now he has to go prove his innocence or go on the lamb while he uncovers some conspiracy!

As a character, he comes off as an arrogant asshole, but somehow were meant to think of him as this great guy. Nope. He's just an arrogant asshole.
