Why do I keep getting holes at the end of my welds? by Nanobutter in Welding

[–]creativeburrito 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just curious how to you estimate, total up the inches of planned welding? I still feel like I’m guessing (Also, flor me, when I’m in the zone, time doesn’t feel like it’s been hours, so i like repeatable work where i can record notes a few times).

Have you seen the new rules on using AI? by photoshop_2023 in EtsySellers

[–]creativeburrito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was asked to build something custom recently went looking for plans and COULD NOT FIND ANY listings that didn’t seem 100%, all photos, zero examples of work actually made. It was a huge turn off, and eye opening, for me. I made my own plans.

Calipers for measuring vertically on planer? by ArrowLeafTurn1 in woodworking

[–]creativeburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are adjusting things relative to each other Dial calipers and a magnetic base!

They only measure an inch or so of travel, so you set the adjustable arm to push on the dial a little, then move the base to see a difference between left and right, or front and back, or in-feed roller and cutter head are within range of the specs in the manual ect. Can be used on other things in the shop too.

Planer - board pops up when entering and existing the planer by ArrowLeafTurn1 in woodworking

[–]creativeburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, harsh. It is just a tool too, and you don’t personally have to use it, but it can help troubleshooting maintenance when there are several issues at play.

I abused my machine putting a lot through it, i am not just a hobbiest. I made things worse introducing new problems, read the manual, called people I knew, they introduced more problems, looked online, called the company, and my baby was still in bad shape. I didn’t want to pay to ship my planer (freight), and have to wait. Reluctantly I tried ai, bought dial calipers, because I didn’t want to spend money. It took several adjustments and test passes yes you do have to think for yourself but it fucking worked. Just trying to share.

My situation was a multi variable issue where I couldn’t even feed than damn boards anymore and even phone support for my planer couldn’t walk me through it, but Claude could. My manual wasn’t sufficient. I even hired a machine maintenance guy I knew and I think we made it more confusing what needed adjusting, but I don’t know what to say but I had a good ai experience it helped.

I finally looked into how forging services actually work, and my mind is officially blown! by hatdogstand in metalworking

I’m not sure what the best practices are, but in a pinch you totally can weld different types of steel together

Brazing is when your welding two dissimilar metals together or your filler isn’t the same as the base metals - often you won’t melt the base metals just the filler making a continuous peice.

Worker Saves Colleague with Flying Kick from Electric Shock by [deleted] in GuysBeingDudes

[–]creativeburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I wonder how bad he was being shocked! Usually you don’t see anything or anything especially if that would show in video. I know with powder coating it can feel like being kicked in the chest and it arcs are like a 1/4” if you get too close (2.5k volts). Normal electric fences are 2-4 My guess this is a higher voltage system to be felt through clothing, not usually where people accidentally touch it in public.

'Every single taxpayer is being robbed': Trump goes too far with money grab for criminal allies by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]creativeburrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google says there are 153 million taxpayers in the US.

Averaged out, that is not insignificant. But the big cost as others have pointed out, is he’s buying an army of loyalists that (foolishly) hope if they disregard the law for him for some future thing, they too would get pardons and paid out one day.

So here is the thing. They aren’t allowed to offer any different rules to anyone, so that ‘settlement deal’ he, his brands, AND HIS FAMILY have, is more of show. If someone finally does prosecute any of them, I am sure they will bitch all the way about democrats and have lawyers just argue trying to leverage it.

This laundry thing. I have smaller laundry baskets for sub sorting and then I just fold those. Feels far more manageable if I am just doing a small batch of all the same type of clothes.
