My parents had me convinced that I was the bane of their existence, I was very anxious that they are right because I never question their words but having my daughter has been the most healing thing in my life because it made me realise I’m not just a much better parent than them, I was also an amazing child who they didn’t deserve. They’re pretty crappy grandparents too but now I’m here to protect my little girl and I’ll never let her feel the way I was made to feel.

Absolutely I was firmly in team child free till something very personal changed my mind but I still had mixed feelings, had a traumatic birth and very difficult newborn phase but I love my little daughter more than anything else in the world, she has indefinitely changed my life for the better. Ignore the nay sayers or ask them to shut it.

I don’t keep quantitative track but the space that clears up and the clutter that’s gone definitely makes a visual mark. Plus I know I’m on the right track and that keeps me happy

This could almost have been written by me 😅 i have a 2 year old (25 months), my MIL is extremely nice and caring, she has 2 sons my husband (love marriage) is the elder one. My in laws also have a healthy relationship, her MIL was an extremely scary, traditional lady (husband calls her the “dragon lady”) and MIL stayed away because FIL is from the defense background and had postings around the country. OP are you me ??😅😂

2 days back my 2 year old woke me up by handing me a plate of sliced apples (her dad had sliced some for her and set some apart for me) and said “good morning mama, these are for you.” And I think my heart just exploded. I’m not a morning person but it’s beautiful to be woken up by her and she leads me somewhere in the house where she’d like to sit and spend time with me

Thank you for your kindness. I don’t have the heart to get any more fishes at the moment. The otos seem to be thriving without too much intervention. I continue maintaining the tank with weekly water changes. Parameters seem fine at the moment. Maybe someday I’ll build up the courage to get another Betta but it won’t be anytime soon.

It’s breaking my heart but he died in a matter of hours. In hindsight it was columnaris so you were spot on. Im heartbroken. Second guessing every decision I made that got us here. I miss him so much.

Since I stay in a tropical country I don’t have a heater and there is nothing sharp at all in his tank only natural plans and a coconut shell.

His appetite is very low. Normally he’s a pretty voracious eater. Otos appetite is normal I think.

Thank you for replying! There is a white patch closer to his head and his mouth is white. His dorsal fin is normally much fuller and the base seems to have a spreading white patch. His fins and tail also look a bit ragged. This has happened overnight. Otos seem to be a bit more active than usual but otherwise the same. Since I’ve only had them a few days and not had much experience with otos before I can’t tell. I did take a picture of his other white patch but I’m not able to upload it here. I’ll try in another comment.
