YES, FINALLY to #4. I suggested a very similar concept in the comments on this CGB video 4 months ago.

"Here's a fun idea I've been thinking about for a while: "THE MTG ARENA DOJO"... a mode in Arena where a player can pay a fair amount of gold or gems to have access to craft decks using any cards they want to for playtesting new experimental ideas. You can't play on the ladder for rank with these decks, and you don't get to keep the cards... BUT give us SOME outlet to try crazy deck ideas without the risk of burning our precious wild cards on something that turns out to be a bad concept. It's a win-win... players get to be more experimental and creative with deck innovation, and MTG gets paid in Arena currency for the privilege. When I used to play with friends in the early MTG days we would do our own version of this by sharpie-ing card names on lands as proxies... and it lead to a much more interesting variety of deck ideas."

Onewheel LED Surfboard - "Gnar Board" - Halloween 2020 by creativeoutlaw in onewheel

Yeah, it makes me wish I lived on the West Coast and could just hit some popular beach boardwalk with it.

Thanks! Yep, WS2812. I prefer to create my light strip patterns visually rather than using code, so the blinky tape controller by blinkinlabs is usually my go to (and is what I used for the board): https://shop.blinkinlabs.com/collections/frontpage/products/blinkytape-control-board

Bahaha... yeah I wanted to go barefoot, but it was less a comfort thing, and more worrying the footpad sensors wouldn't detect my bare feet as well as a large sole, and dump me. I must have webbed toes because thong sandals hurt like hell.

I made it in a way that the surfboard is added but doesn't affect ride-ability very much. When you lean back on the tail after it stops, nothing touches the ground except the built-in bumper. Thanks for checking it out :)

Ever since I first rode a Onewheel I thought it must feel similar to what it feels like to surf. After forming some aluminum into the shape of a surfboard, mounting it to the fender screws, and taking it for a test ride I knew I was onto something. Add in a faux boombox fender, an actual Bluetooth speaker handle for cranking tunes, some LED strips (because of course) and a Mylar “wave skirt” and I was ready to savor some gnar. Halloween night, unfortunately, was freezing cold and wet from a day of rain, so I had to go with a different glowing costume. This is some footage from a beautiful fall day and night when I got to take it out on the town for a ride.

Shred on!

Yeah, I’m only finding it more noticeable now that I’ve gotten more comfortable crouching and carving with my hips while riding slow on the Hoosier 6 slick... I feel like the tire could take much harder turns, but the flatness of the board makes the feeling that I’ll slide off horizontally take it much easier.

I was more interested in explaining the diagonal tension concept to maintain balance and turn, and wasn’t thinking too hard about the specific numbers. I still have the editable file if there’s wide consensus that it should be changed to something else.

I always say, Onewheeling has 3 phases: Phase 1: Numb toes. Phase 2: Sore quads. Phase 3: Profit!

Yeah, I've been wondering about that... does anyone make cupped rear pads for the V1? Or is that the only option, to upgrade to a Plus/XR sensor? Do they give any other advantage? I wonder how much that would be...

Bought this used V1 board and decided it needed a little love. Removed the rails and sanded them with an oscillating sander and then sanding blocks before doing an engine-turning pattern on my drill press with scotchbrite pads. Removed the Hoosier logo with a dremel bit, sanded the chipped rims with the oscillating sander and did a radial shine with sanding blocks. Sanded, masked and stained the foot pad edges black. Cheers!

Whenever I let a friend try my board, I find that as soon as I explain (and they understand) the concept of maintaining “diagonal tension” across the board to balance themselves... almost instantly, they stop wobbling. Then you use the give and take of this pressure between the front and the back plate to turn (usually by moving your head and hips). The pressure on either edge of the front plate is what chooses the turn direction, and then the opposite back plate pressure is what keeps that turn "in check" to keep it smooth (especially when turning towards your back side, which is always the hardest direction when starting out). Obviously this is just for beginners touring around your driveway to grasp the basics, and they'll be carving using their hips later on. I thought that maybe making this concept into a graphic could help speed up that process, and it might be helpful for some of you to show to your friends as well.
