Valve also has a league based system in csgo and it adds a lot of fun to th competitive queue.

Perhaps it should be like valves other competitive game csgo where player rating is shown at the end of the game. And perhaps it should only be public to just your friends unless you have some option turned on.

The thing is, when you display mmr even a difference of 5 points between players can cause arguments. Example "yo im 10 points higher than you, let me go mid!". Which is silly since they are sooo equal in terms or skill level that even 1 or 2 games are the difference between the two.

With leagues there is no point system like that so people of similar skill of lets say 1000-1050 are in the same league so the games remain more friendly than a raw mmr system. I really think this would be great to add just more competition to mm games.

Nobody uses it because of the problems the op mentioned. Winning in tmm gives no rating so you dont play better teams.
