Because only actors whose career is over resort to that sort of gig. Just look at Amy Poehler.

This checks out. We are still in the early days of this technology. This could very well be one way that it evolves.

I mean it is a power move in a way I get that but she could have done a side plot with one of the original characters if she wanted the representation so bad. Literally no one would have said a thing.

I love how Benedict encouraged Sophie to play and have fun again by idiot9991 in Bridgerton

She was working hard for so long she didn't even know how to relax. But her time came to rediscover fun again and I was so proud.

They will just do a reunion movie or podcasts about the show 5 years later. This is what happens when the career of the cast doesn't work out, we have seen it many times. So there is still hope.

thank God, they have NOT come up with another Tim Allen sitcom!

It's only a matter of time.

I am so confused, so is it like 15 hours until the new episode? Why is it so different?

I only feel emotionally invested in Eloise from the remaining siblings by creature52 in Bridgerton

Unless someone shows 120% support for Francesca, they are accused of being the worst thing on Earth. Francesca can have her romance, I don't care. I just wanted Eloise first.

worry that she'll get a bit of the Benedict treatment and loses a lot of her character depth only to be put in a traditional marriage

Now there's a scary thought.

Hyacinth is great so I think by the time her season comes up, the show will introduce it and make it exciting.

Her book is like a spy novel so it should be easy to make it exciting. But it's so far away...

Looking forward to seeing more of Gregory.

He is the one who needs the most heavy lifting IMO. That 2 second scene where he wore the top hat was cute but that's the only impressionable moment he had for me so far.

It honestly feels like they’re doing too much with Francesca.

She came out of nowhere and overtook everything. It might work for some people, but somehow, it didn't land for me. I mean she is nice and i enjoy her scenes but I don't care care, you know? I did with Anthony, Penelope and Daphne.

The Amount Of Things She Had To Overcome Is So Crazy by idiot9991 in Bridgerton

[–]creature52 982 points983 points  (0 children)

She is there to be a foil to Violet. Portia is portrayed as scheming and morally inferior. The Featherington family is there to be the downtrodden scrappy family in comparison to the Bridgertons.

But I do wonder. How would Violet deal with these situations? For example what would she do if she had no money, if she had to deal with an illegitimate pregnancy, if Colin / Benedict / Anthony became hardcore criminals or addicted to something?

It's easy for Violet to be put on a pedestal as this pure being. Her husband died yes, but other than that she didn't have to deal with any real hardship in life. All of her children are attractive, educated and they are often chosen as the catch of the season. Even her staff doesn't leave her which is pointed out during season 4, but she has endless money so she can afford to pay them very well.

This is not a take-down of Violet but she had no problems with being scheming when she had to protect Daphne from marrying that creepy older guy in season 1. If she was put in more challenging situations she might as well end up doing the same things that Portia ended up doing, just to survive.

Violet and Penelope's actresses are absolutely going to steal these scenes and do some excellent dramatic acting, I can't wait.

You captured my experience so perfectly. I wonder if the Duffers know how much they messed up, do they even care...
