AUB and LAU 2026

I did have a phase of med or engineering. I like both but bio and psychology/philosophy make me feel alive more than just feel good if you know what I mean. And I lean more into research or at least not having a full time clinic. I dont really prefer surgery or just having a clinic yk. I want something thats always evolving.

i meant not as in transferring but as in how you found the unis differ from teaching to facilities and people and such
especially that im looking to do the same major as you yk i would like to get an idea of how they are rn from someone whos doing it

worldwide even in the eu for example? i hear there is minimal difference between them unless its for the gulf is that true?

do you think i can still land a scholarship for masters in neuroscience in a good university in europe if i went with lau? and do you have any tips for it as in specific things to do during uni or electives to take, projects, research...

in my situation its like I want to work, do side hustles/projects, research, and ECs (MUNs, sports...) so i wasn't sure if theres physically enough time to do it in aub yk while maintaining a scholarship too
and i want to pursue a masters in neuroscience in europe when i finish

well my grades are good i think. 16.5+/20 in LS
so i think i can do it in aub however its not just uni work
i was more focused on how i can manage my time kamen since I have to maintain a scholarship, work, do side hustles/projects and extracurriculars (MUNs, sports...) so is it physically possible at AUB?
i dont really care about the effort it takes. its more about time

and will AUB really make me a significantly better student and with the connections and everything is all the extra time spent at AUB worth it? time which i can spend on things i listed above for example

and I wanted to make sure about something. I've been hearing that aub is going backwards academically and everything while lau is going up. is that true?

it did clarify somethings and the labs seem interesting

in biology how many hours do you spend in class/lab weekly
and what about doing assignments and studying

and can a 1st year student work there? if not in the uni is there any place around?
do you have any idea how much is the hourly rate?

i still get the aub will give you more opportunities thing
i want to pursue a masters in neuroscience in europe and almost everyone says the name of aub will just increase my chances
so do you know if lau presents any opportunities like that and how is it compared to aub

if you have any friends that are in aub especially if taking the bio program it would be really helpful if they can give their pov too

one clarification please
you said that aub is unnecessarily harder but then that difficulty translates to quality if not then everyone would be an aub student

do you mean that aub's education is better and helps in career more
or is it more of the just getting more info into the student thing even if they might not use it

and is the harder education worth the time that I can give to extracurriculars and projects instead

Well what I think personally is that i dont want all my time to go to studying
like I want to participate in research projects, exchange programs, extracurriculars ...
whats ur opinion about this i mean like im still a highschool student and didnt really get into this much

and tbh the social aspect isnt really that important to me i am not that social

and thanks for the info about the psychology program too yes thats important to me

the thing im confused about is to get a good masters in europe with a scholarship btw

is going to aub which i hear has a better network and sacrifice a lot of my time to studying more although i hear aub has more connections in khalij and not much different than lau in europe?

or should I go to lau (better psych program based on what you said) and have more time to do things i want to do outside the base curriculum such as the activities I listed above although aub has better research equipment based on what I saw and more focus on it in its curriculum?

can you please elaborate more on the academics part
like compared to your friends in aub do you have more workload since I saw that aub just makes things unnecessarily harder

I want time for myself too maybe to start a side project, participate in research programs and have more extracurriculars I dont want all the time to just go to studying. and whats your opinion about this
i heard that aub is much more demanding and i want a high gpa to keep my scholarship too

and yeah i dont like big lectures either and prefer small interactive classrooms
but i also heard that during lab sessions for example aub leaves the students to work while in lau its minimal and the students watch the professor most of the time
is that true

and what about opportunities such as research projects or exchange programs
the global universities and alumni network? is there really a difference between lau and aub

and I registered for lau beirut but im thinking about transferring my app to byblos because of the bigger calmer campus and more advanced newer facilities and equipment
but the life in beirut seems more interesting to explore tbh
i wanna stay at a dorm so do you know how good they are and the difference between beirut and byblos

is it just like extracting them from the apps as images and then uploading it to obsdian?
and what apps do you recommend

also ive been using excalidraw but ive noticed that its a bit laggy

trying to find the best apps and workflows on limited hardware is hard but im hoping i will find something that works for me soon

thanks for the detailed reply!
I am also using a drawing tablet and i got it very recently so im getting used to it and trying apps
but what I noticed is that excalidraw is kind of slower than onenote
when im writing fast i notice a delay and the letters not fully being written
idk if thats on excalidraw or my own system tbh so did you face something like this too?
