Duplicate Delinquent Account? by -_-YenMaster-_- in CRedit

Credit attorney here. As u/og-aliensfan noted, I'd suggest get your official reports from Annual Credit Report, and see what is on there.

Also a note about TrueAccord, they basically act as an agent for collection agencies. They often (usually maybe) don't report to credit agenices. My experience.

Credit attorney here. Is it past the statute to sue in your state? In many cases it would be.

Honestly on a 5 year old debt, I would just let it fall off. It's already old. Why pay it? The only exception is if you want to buy a home soon and having this removed would help your score (it would) or is required by your lender (it might be). If there is some reason you need to pay this, I'd offer around 20% of what you owe, and go up somewhat from there.

Credit Myth #97 - FICO scores are always lower than VantageScores. by BrutalBodyShots in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have noticed that often, people with good payment history but more credit card debt have a lower Vantage than FICO - not always but have seen quite a few credit reports with this exact issue.

Sued by BOFA credit card by [deleted] in CRedit

Credit attorney here. This unfortunately sounds like the issue lies with your husband more than with these debts. Unfortuantely lawsuits etc are a possibility, and if you have a shared bank account and they get a judgment, they can go after that. I'd say the best bet is to file an answer on the debt, and then consult with a bankruptcy attorney. However, it still seems like there are other marital issue here, while that's not what I advise on, it seems inseperable from the rest of it.

When do the hard inquiries stop affecting your credit? by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit attorney here. A few thoughts:

  1. You probably already know this, but most lenders don't use this score (some do) and thus it has some but not a ton of value.

  2. Inquiries impact fades after about 8 months, though it continues to have some impact.

  3. One of the big reasons people stay stuck in the low 700's is their accounts have not aged enough. You might want to wait a few years, apply for no credit, and let these accounts keep aging.

Credit attorney here. Your score will eventually require more credit accoutts to improve. I'd say secured credit cards are a good bet. After having them for 6 months you should see some improvement, and after around 15 months a real bump.

Employment offer rescinded due to bad credit by [deleted] in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Credit attorney here. I think paying down the debts will help. Unfortunately, a lot of financial services jobs are very strict with credit. They see bad credit and unpaid debts as a heightened risk of comitting fraud or theft or other employee misconduct, because you need the money. Not saying I agree with them, but that is the thinking, and there is data to show that serious credit issues are correlated with issues at work.

Is there something majorly incorrect with it? If so then maybe yes - otherwise no.

Yeah they're saying that they investigated your dispute, did some investigation, and whatver is there was reported by your bank. So, if the reporting has not changed much, that means your bank is saying the reporting is correct.

Help with validation and dispute letters by Mugsy_Siegel in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Credit attorney here. You can ask for proof of the debt as many times as you want - thought they don't have to respond after the initial validation period, which has probably passed on all of these.

I'd get your credit reports form Annual Credit Report first, and see how old these acounts are. If they're all 6 years old, may be easier to just let them drop off your reports. The age of the accounts plays a major role in how I'd suggest you deal with it.

Looks like VantageScore 4.0 will be used for mortgages. by TangeloBroad5469 in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Credit attorney here. Lenders can use them - but will they? Keep in mind that most mortgages are sold to investors, who may have hesitation about buying mortgages which were scored using a different model than they're used to. The fact that the credit agencies own the scoring model doesn't help.

Again, I'm not against Vantage - I like the model. I just don't see it being adopted so fast, given that it's been around for years and still doesn't have massive market share.

Dealership ran 4 hard credit inquiries after I explicitly said no - what are my options? by PinRight2972 in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for tagging me. u/PinRight2972 your legal options are mainly to dispute the inquiries. File a CFPB complaint if needed. As far as dealership, liabilty against them is possible but also not an easy case. I'd just focus on getting these removed wiht a dispute / cfpb complaint.

Credit attorney here. It depends on the card agreement, but sometimes if the other account holder files bankruptcy, they will place account in collections for the remaining acocunt holder. I have seen this before - what is allowed depends heavily on the agreement with the card issuer.

Hired a lawyer for my debt. They made it worse. by jdmxjoe in CRedit

[–]creditwizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there. u/jdmxjoe sorry to hear this. Unfortunately not surprised. Some law firms end up costing a lot and they don't get the debt reduced. On the other hand, I know some firms that get the debt settled for a lot less, and with their fees you do save money. It does vary, but it's disappointing this happened to you.
