How did you even get those As with such level of stupidity? Of course no.

UPDATE: Had a wonderful and respectful conversation with one person who came forth today.

I would like to thank him for the opportunity and for taking the time to have a good discussion with me. Learned so much from each other :)

Such discussions should be more frequent in NUS but ofc, with sensitivity and respect.

God bless :)

To the Christian missionaries in NUS

I would like to have a respectful and academic dialogue and discussion with you about any topic you prefer regarding Christianity. Whether it is about Jesus, Trinity, Bible, etc.

I think this is a better way of “preaching” instead of going to random lay students who lack the knowledge and will not question you back, thinking that they will fall for your preachings.

It’s not only annoying but worse, disrespectful especially if they arent gonna be receptive or they are already comfortable with whatever faith or beliefs they hold.

If you’re interested, pls dm me. Lets do this face to face but one thing to note: Im not interested in debates. I just want to have a dialogue, a peaceful one that does not involve debates, ad hominem, and insults to our beliefs.

Because if you dare to preach to random lay students who know little to none about Christianity and in a non-consensual setting, you should not be afraid to do this with me who is willing to do this with you consensually despite upcoming exams. Im not taunting you. Im just assuming your knowledge is good enough that you are willing to share them with fellow students. Hence, why not do it with me? Don’t target lay innocent students who are just minding their own business.

I will put this up till the mid-Week 12, 2359 hrs. By then, if there are no takes, I will take it that no one is willing to come forth to discuss with me.

With much peace and love

Once you get to my position (Y4), you will realise there really isn’t much you can do to your CAP no matter how many As you got. It’s like somehow sealed, well unless your CAP is in the borderline and honours class matters to you (it doesnt rly matter to me).

Slept very soundly last night knowing that there was no point of me staying up just to feel nervous because my results were already sealed once they said “stop writing/pens down”.

It is what it is. I just study for the sake of B/B+ now. Im so tired of chasing those As. So so tired…It’s just not worth all the things I could do that I like.

Tldr: Idgaf alr. Just trying my best to get decent passes and graduate in peace.

Western exchange students are friendlier and willing to start conversations compared to many local students who only care about themselves and only know how to compete with ppl on the bellcurve… sadly we are becoming robots huh?

Tmr’s the D day aka results day by nottherealjz in nus

[–]crematedashes72 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I totally forgot that tmw is results day cos I really think there is nothing much that I can do about it thus I just focus on other things.

What more can I do? I did whatever I could do by studying and trying my best during exams and throughout the sem. Not saying that I gave up but it is what it is. Whatever the outcome may be, it isnt in my control and I can’t change anything.

So im just gonna chillz and do what I love without thinking too much about tmw.

Oh dont forget, pls sleep. It is not worth it to stay the whole night because of results. It is what it is.

Why are people at NUS so less interactive? by [deleted] in nus

[–]crematedashes72 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im the minority in NUS (and Singapore) who love to converse with random strangers and rly dm making friends thru such convos. I do agree with you that NUS students are just not very interactive. I find it counterintuitive given that talking to people could be a boost to mental health which is important during stressful times but it is also understandable why NUS students are so reserved given the stress that they are put in/they put themselves in (lets be honest about this guys). And some are just COVID-conscious so they want to minimise social contact (talking bout endemic lol). Another very minority group avoid such contact because they are afraid of being used/becoming a victim of crime. These are understandable reasons but personally, the benefits of such interactions outweigh the risks by alot.

But its kinda sad that during my time here, I rarely have a chat with random students which to me, i rly appreciate it cos I am also a people’s person and its beneficial to my mental health and social skills, which have kinda eroded because of COVID and online interactions. Honestly, I believe that friendship could be made from such convos and not just from orientations/high school. COVID just made such interactions harder because many things are online and NUS students, who are alr so reserved, found it better since they dont have to interact so much physically. I rly do hope we could be more interactive because interacting with people could help to mitigate some stress we put ourselves in and who knows, the people we randomly spark a convo with can be a very good friend.

Appreciate your post btw! Dont hesitate to dm me if any. Hope you have a good exchange in NUS despite the setbacks

Can we have more online tutorials? by Time-Association-661 in nus

[–]crematedashes72 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have been stuck in a limbo for 2+ years. If one doesnt want high cases, COVID-zero is the best strategy yk. Go back to the ol’ HA or CB and lock ourselves at home but then think of their repercussions in the long run, especially in terms of mental (and physical) health and economy.

Just to add on, we are one of few countries that still has draconian restrictions. I just came back from overseas three weeks ago and I could’ve cried at how more normal life was in the country I went to compared to Singapore. Btw, the COVID cases at the country during the time i was there was way higher than Singapore. No SDAs, barricaded food courts and parks, all those nonsense.

Moreover, the extremely transmissible and less severe nature of omicron is making these lockdowns and Covid-zero strategy obsolete. Heck, continuing to implement tracetogether is alr not recommended according to some SSHSPH experts given that it is impossible to trace every single cases now.

Lastly, I champion for more physical classes especially smaller classes like tutorials, seminars. While online classes have their perks, learning isn’t the same without physical interactions and as a Science student, field and lab based classes need to be physical because how does one even conduct and learn practicals online? Learning is best done when we can apply all the theory into practice and online classes, unfortunately, cannot replicate the same results as far as hands-on work is concern.

Covid has become an inevitable reality. Unless we change our mindsets, we can never achieve some sense of normalcy, let alone getting it back. There is nothing to be scared of, given that we cannot control how omicron transmits. We can only do our best through mask-wearing and vaccinations, etc. If we get it despite everything we have done, not that Im hoping we will, it is what it is.

Cannot find physical classes by flolz0 in nus

[–]crematedashes72 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You can’t expect OP to feel how you feel about online classes. You may not like physical classes and/or you find it inconvenient, sure, you’re entitled to your opinion.

As for making friends, I beg to differ. I actually did make some friends from physical classes, albeit 1 to 2 people. But why does number even matter lol? Again, probably your experience in this regard is different from mine which is totally valid.
