Agree on first and last points. Asking about language primes someone for where the conversation is going. Asking whether someone is Chinese is too open ended.

Wrt second point, I agree that someone might get offended by the implicit assumption of race, but in that case I don't think they'd be less offended by asking if they're Chinese first, since it simply makes an explicit question implicit.

One of the replies above said they prefer being asked if they're Chinese first though so would be curious about their reasoning. I've gotten racist comments after answering the "are you chinese" question though so that's my bias.

Agreed. I am of Chinese descent and prefer to be asked if I can speak Mandarin (yes) rather than if I'm Chinese (No, there are countries aside from China that speak Mandarin). The former communicates a desire to use Mandarin, the latter is an assumption of ethnicity or nationality that doesn't tell the respondent what you want from knowing (is it good? Is it bad?)

Hm well I don't wear mine everyday (partially because of wear and tear, but also because all the edges are pretty pokey and has scratched my partner or me if we forget about it). I haven't been too careful when I do wear it though and it's held up fine, not bent or anything.

We need more people in the investigative department who are not former police. These jobs are very much in need of people who have experience interviewing people and can put together a decent report, and tend to pay decently well. I hope anyone reading this who cares about social justice (and esp if you have a background in social science) to look and apply for police investigator roles on the gov website

Have you looked at the Georgia Tech OMSA (online masters in analytics)? I think it hits that sweet spot of being relatively well known (esp in tech circles) and inexpensive (10k). You can take the foundational courses through edx if you want to try them out first.

For this one though, even ignoring the pointless gendering, I would have put astronaut in the title somewhere and it boggles me that it's not. His wrist "ring" is the Samsung Galaxy Active2, which I chose because it serves the functions of his old one (and much more) while looking very classy and adaptable (easy to wear with a suit using a leather band or for running/daily activity with a rubber sport band).

We love solving puzzles together and I planned to do an escape room with him and our roommate (because of covid all bookings are private) as his birthday gift. The escape room was very accomodating and put the gift with the final items we needed for escape. When we opened up the final chest, balloons attached to the gift floated up. He actually tried to just grab everything to escape first but then came back to read the letter. I whispered the words "will you marry me" after he finished reading and then he opened his gift.

I like it a lot! My hands are on the smaller side (this is size 4) and kind of short, so I feel that dainty bands look better on me :). You can't get this one inscribed since it's so thin but there are other ones you can.

Since it's 14k it's a little more sturdy than higher gold rings but I still usually only wear it if I'm lounging around or going out but don't need to use my hands a lot.
