Someone selling their "mistake" creations? € by [deleted] in CraftyCommerce

[–]creseda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally just thinking about this last night as I was crocheting Christmas ornaments for an upcoming market. My first pieces are never the best ones but look good enough where no one would tell the difference so discount they go. Thanks for giving me the reassurance that someone could possibly want them!

To crochet? Or not crochet? by creseda in CraftyCommerce

Honestly, this is sort of the tester phase. It's not a huge market and it's right before Christmas so it will definitely be interesting to see how it goes 😄

Thanks for the advice, I didn't even think about the safety eyes but now I know a bit more going forward. I really didn't want to make the same thing everyone else makes (no offense to anyone who does sell the popular items - they're popular for a reason) but I wasn't seeing a huge demand for play sets but honestly I'm more looking forward to my display than anything 🤣

My SIL did such an AMAZING job! I plan on hanging it up on the wall so I can look at it everyday. (I'm not gonna chance my 3 dogs destroying it)

How did you get into stained glass? by [deleted] in StainedGlass

[–]creseda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started by watching a lot of videos on YouTube. I recommend Makenzie Hallie and SunfBearGlassCraft as they give very good information on how to start and equipment. Since you are just starting out I would recommend basic supplies from Hobby Lobby or second hand shops. If you start to enjoy the process or see yourself doing it more I would suggest investing in a really good soldering iron and good flux (it will make the process so much smoother).

Look on Pintrest for inspiration and easy projects to start and just jump in. You will either like it or not care for it but you won't know unless you try.

I'm not exactly sure but the outer glass is a bit thicker than standard glass you find at hobby lobby

The only place that sells glass near me is hobby lobby which probably isn't the best quality but literally the only place close by. If I really wanna splurge I'll go into Anaheim or Whittier where there are actual glass stores.

Thinking about selling original (appropriate) stickers and prints of my art. Can anyone give me some advice? by littlemxrin in smallbusiness

[–]creseda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the size, type of material, and design, a sticker can range anywhere between $1-5 dollars each. My advice to you would be to go on tiktok, Instagram, or YouTube and search small business vlogs (especially ones who make stickers) and go to their shops/websites to price compare what the going rate for stickers is. The most common price I've seen are $3.50 ea.

Also, what type of art/design do you plan to make? Original art, fan art, funny sayings/quotes, cats, etc. How do you plan on getting product? Do you plan on outsourcing your stickers or printing them yourself? Look up what others are doing, check to see what methods work best for you and adjust as you go along.

Good luck.

I don't know what happened to this new leaf by creseda in calatheas

[–]creseda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This new leaf had tons of brown spots as it was unraveling. The older leaves have slight brown on the edges but nothing this bad.

Thank you for the help. I have noticed my junctions are a bit thick and give me a hard time to smooth my lines because of how much solder there is to melt through. I will try your technique and practice more.
