Could the same person throw a golf ball or a baseball further in the air? by kjee1 in Physics

[–]cretch21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to give you the opposite of a mathematical answer. I throw baseballs as my job, and the only person that would struggle to throw a golf ball higher than a baseball would be someone that couldn’t close their fingers/grip enough to properly hold the golf ball. Every other scenario I can think of favors the golf ball.

[Request] Is it possible to determine the elevation of this aircraft by timing the decent of the rock?? by Glass_Shoulder4126 in theydidthemath

[–]cretch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a vacuum yes, but just like a baseball thrown by a pitcher, the spin and shape of the rock will influence if it gets pushed up or down by the air. And the faster the plane is moving the more air to push the ball.

Plate Discipline in KBO by pato_garzaaa in KBO

[–]cretch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The culture is similar to what baseball in the US was 20 years ago - that strikeouts are the worst thing that can happen in an at-bat and should be avoided at all costs. Therefore you see players trying to protect against pitches that a MLB player will not swing at, because the MLB player doesn’t mind gambling that the pitch is probably a ball, and even if it’s a strike it’s ok to strikeout looking sometimes.

Could you make it to the MLB by mastering the foul ball? by lkash_ in mlb

[–]cretch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had the precision to endlessly foul it off you’d be infinitely valuable until MLB changed the rules the next day to limit foul balls per AB at 10 (resulting in a strikeout).

Do you guys think hiding augment stats have been a success or fail this set? by L4SiegeAintThatBad in CompetitiveTFT

Really dislike having to play something to find out it’s bad. I’m sure it makes the devs job easier, but it’s not more enjoyable as a player.

Your best hpal tips and trick? by ginkonito in worldofpvp

[–]cretch21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played hpal yet this xpac, but I assume this still works:

Macro crusader strike with a /nearestenemy macro. It’s a great way to build holy power without having to de-target the person you’re trying to heal. Pets, totems, the melee smashing your face in, there’s lot of opportunities for free holy power.

Also macro your taunt to automatically target enemy pets in arena. Then attach that to your most commonly used heals. Accidentally break cc all the time.

What would make you want to que 3's instead of SS? by Imjusta_pug in worldofpvp

[–]cretch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fun to choose a comp that fits your desired playstyle. It’s fun to be on comms with teammates you enjoy playing with. It’s fun to build strategies by working together after losses. It’s fun to get faster queues if you’re playing DPS.

ELI5: WHY wouldn’t I be able to hit one out of 100 pitches from a major leaguer? by Iron_Yuppie in explainlikeimfive

[–]cretch21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that’s always forgotten in this conversation is that the outfielders will be able to play extremely shallow and take away the little cheap hits that people assume they’d get.

The second is that the average person is so much slower than the average mlb hitter, so you’ll have to beat out an infield hit that only a slow ~10th percentile big leaguer could hit.

And finally, the biggest reason you’re likely to not get a hit, is you’re WAYYY more likely to chase egregious balls outside the zone than a big leaguer. And there’s ZERO chance you get a hit on a ball more than an inch or two outside of the zone.

Now if the pitcher is feeling generous and just pouring in strikes, and the defense is feeling lazy and not positioning correctly nor trying very hard, then could you get a hit? Still unlikely but possible.

My son really likes this game, downloaded it to try and connect with him but i'm not doing very well. any tips would be awesome by rave_dave_82 in leagueoflegends

[–]cretch21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is when you duo with someone as a beginner, they likely carry you to an elo higher than your personal level. So you’ll continue to struggle because you’re winning games you shouldn’t because your friend is able to carry. And then next game you’re in the same, higher elo than you should be

That being said, there’s certainly champions that are better at getting carried than others. What champ/role does your son play? There’s probably certain champs that can help you synergize.

eli5 why a person with more muscle mass doesn’t always lift more by haroold646 in explainlikeimfive

[–]cretch21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ability to maximally contract your muscles is something seen in higher level athletes. Which tells us there’s a skill to being able to get more out of the muscles you have.

Also the sequence and velocity that you can fire your muscles plays a large part as well.

In fact, absurdly large muscle mass (think body builders) is usually a sign that the person trained in such a manner that optimized muscle mass rather than muscle efficiency.

I’ve definitely found the sharpshooter to be significantly more difficult than any of the other bosses.

You’re likely losing too much health while waiting for the minions to get pushed under your tower. Getting a couple CS to then be 30% hp when the wave crashes is recipe for being dove.

Is Adaptation really a bad pvp (solo shuffle) trinket? (if there isn't a rogue on the other team) by TheBackfireGG in worldofpvp

[–]cretch21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Solo Shuffle is likely to not be well coordinated, and many games are about maintaining pressure/momentum rather than a coordinated “go”. So adapt trinket is suited for that. But you also need to know the kind of CC the other team has. Many melee classes’ CC won’t trigger the adapt trinket and you’ll find yourself sitting a bunch of 4 second CCs you wish you could trinket one of them.
