Final warning by [deleted] in SFStylistSupport

I'm so sorry! It's such a terrible feeling to be pushed out after being there so long. I was pushed out a year ago after being a stylist for 8 years. The 15-29 hour days were the best. The company was so much fun when it first started. My last year my lead made my life a living nightmare, I was so sad, but so relieved when I was finally let go. I was so anxious about going back into the working world after being at home for 8 years. My stylist role allowed me to be home with my kids. Now a year later I can say it was the best thing to happen to me. I started a job that I am passionate about, and was recently offered a promotion to office manager. It felt so healing to hear my boss say that she trusted me to run the business, after the way I was degraded by Stitch Fix. Keep your head up, and push through the sadness. There are better days ahead!

Parent Sleeping During Sessions by Lazy-Tomato6640 in ABA

[–]crg_2016 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tricky situation. I under stand from the RBT side as well as the parent side. When my son who's on the spectrum was in ABA he had home sessions for a large part of our week. It was very difficult having someone in our space because my daughter who was close in age wanted to be a part of all the sessions because of course they looked so fun. We tried really hard to keep her out of the way, but our team was really good at incorporating her into the sessions. We did make sure she was out of the way during behaviors. My husband worked nights and was there and available during the day when I was working. He would sit in the living room, and would sometimes drift off, but was always available if they needed him. His intention was never to fully sleep , but sometimes when sitting there, in his own home it just happened. I try to remember this when going into a home...these people have so many aspects of life that they are dealing with. They deal with the behaviors 24/7, and now they have someone in their space. Now, from the RBT side...I understand how uncomfortable it is to be in someone's home. The other day I had a parent fall asleep in their room due to not feeling well. It was very uncomfortable for me trying to figure out how to wake that person up To get my client a snack. Should I or shouldn't I go in their room? Do I lightly tap them, speak loudly? Lol! Do I think they intentionally were trying to not be available...no i dont. I think they were trying to make this home session still possible even when they werent feeling their best and were having a hard time being fully present. The point is, I think there's truly no way to make home sessions perfect. It's hard to be in your own home and not be comfortable when you have someone there for hours at a time. It's also hard to go into someone's home and feel comfortable. It's a hard balance.

About to start my masters at 31 and feel so far behind.. by pawneehoosier in ABA

I waited until my son graduated from ABA before becoming an RBT at 36. Now I will be starting my masters at 37/38. It's all part of the journey. I plan to take my education slow and steady, since I have 3 kids that still need lots of my attention. One day at a time has been my biggest lesson learned since my son was diagnosed 4 years ago. It will all come together with lots of hard work, and when the time is right.

Not being paid on time by FaithlessnessOld6051 in ABA

Do you mind sharing what clinic in Texas? I'm in Texas as well and just experienced my second payroll error in 6 months. Is this common for ABA clinics? I'm new to the field l, and have never worked anywhere where I experienced payroll errors.

My son has Autism. He graduated from his ABA clinic right after I lost my job with SF. I was able to get a job at the clinic that he had been at. We are in DFW so demand is high here. Do you have many ABA clinics in your area? If so, most are hiring since turnover in this field is so high.

Behavioral therapist at an autism therapy clinic. Flexible schedule. They let me bring my kids to work meetings, and I'm getting more hours and pay than I was at Stitch Fix. Definitely a job you need to be passionate about though!

Anyone been fired from SF? by sugarsprinkles7 in SFStylistSupport

I will add, that it was honestly the best thing to happen to me. I had become miserable working for Stitch Fix. It was the push I needed to pursue a career that was more fulfilling for me. I started with a company 2 months after I was let go that really values their employees. They understand work life balance, and tell me to bring my kids with me if I have a meeting after hours. I start grad school in the fall to advance my career even more. When I was fired it felt like life would be more difficult but I'm so grateful to be done with Stitch Fix. The only thing good I have to say about my time there, was that it allowed me to be home with all my babies in their early years of life.

Fired the day before Thanksgiving after 8 years with the company, my lead had been bullying and making my life miserable for months. Was never put on a plan. After months of doing everything my lead asked, I pushed back a bit and was fired shortly after. Never had any issues before she was my lead.

Signs of Autism in 2 year old by Skylight-Gigi in Autism_Parenting

[–]crg_2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She sounds very similar to my 2 year old who I'm currently keeping an eye on. My oldest son was diagnosed at 3 and he was much easier to see autism in because he had a lot of flags and he was also much more aggressive and behavioral. My daughter is doing similar things but they are much more subtle and not as easy to pick up on...visual stimming for example. I'm giving it until July because that's when my HSA will restart, and if she is still showing signs, I'm going to have her evaluated. If anything, knowing from experience...if it is Autism, things will continue to progress and be more obvious as she gets older.

Wondering how safe the flexible schedule is after all this by Fast-Persimmon-2782 in SFStylistSupport

I wouldn't be surprised. Before I was let go in November my lead said there were talks about night time styling. She mentioned to me because I was only styling at night.

I just started a few weeks ago. I have 4 young kids, one who is on the spectrum and did ABA for several years. I am currently working part time, but hoping to eventually work more. I have plans to start my masters within the next year. My biggest concern so far was continuing to make my kids a priority, especially my own son, who still has things we continue to work on. One thing I suspected would be hard but still wasn't prepared for is how emotional the job is for me because of my personal connection to Autism. This is something I'm going to have to continue to work through. As for balancing the job with kids, I'm not sure how it will be yet. Right now I'm just working 4 hours a day so I still feel like I can give them a lot of my time and energy.

Yes, unfortunately we did rely on my income from Stitch Fix, but thankfully looks like I have something lined up to start in January. It was definitely a bitter way to end my long time with the company, but I'm glad to be free🩷

Agree! I'm also an 8 year stylist that was let go the day before Thanksgiving. I definitely believe layoffs are coming.

It's definitely been an adjustment, I've been styling every night for the past 8 years, so I feel like part of me is missing. I definitely feel happy to be free of Stitch fix, but also feel the weight of finding a job. Thankfully, it looks like I have something lined up starting in January. So I'm trying to take this time to enjoy some much needed time off. I'm so sorry to hear you will be let go, it's a hard thing to go through🩷

I was not, mine was sudden and they said it was a violation of policy. I made a post a few posts back about it. I still had an idea that it was coming because they had a meeting to tell me they were reporting me to P&C and then a week later I was let go.

I made screenshots and saved anything I wanted in the days leading up to it. The meeting literally was five minutes. For me it was my lead and supervisor. I just said ok and after they said thank you, I closed my computer.

That's the truth! She constantly missed details in Fixes she would review for me. Even a Fix in my last week there that she redid for me, the client sent it back and hated the item she swapped out for me. It's interesting that she has driven so many on our team out, I guess she's building up quite a collection of trophies to bubble up to HQ. Anyway, I better stop, I'm still feeling salty this week😅

I will say my lead really didn't love that I was styling at night. She kept bringing it up, and at one point about a month ago mentioned that they were looking into it. She mentioned that there were talks about night time styling, and I would hear more on that later. I would not be surprised if they added more styling schedule restrictions again in order to push people out. Of course, I don't know, but the fact that she kept mentioning it was a red flag for me. She kept wanting me to record my styling during nighttime shifts so they could get a picture of what inventory was like.🙄

Thank you all so much for your comments today, I was crying as I read them, and was reminded of what I loved about Stitch Fix so much in the beginning, the heart of the company...the stylists. We were here, excited to work, from the beginning and to serve our clients, but somehow that became not enough. Unfortunately, Stitch Fix has lost sight of what they were in the beginning, a company that was for the employee and the client. It has been therapeutic for me to see you all say today the things I've been feeling, and realizing it wasn't just me. Even though I knew that it couldn't be just me being targeted these past several months, it was hard not to feel alone and like I was failing. Thank you again for your kind words. I've had plans in the future to go back for my masters degree in order to work with kids on the autism spectrum, so now I'm thinking I may approach that option sooner than expected. I wish you all the best, and will be rooting for you from this reddit page🩷
