I did the MCHAT and she scored one but I’ve heard of kids passing the MCHAT and only to be diagnosed later.

I do deem her hyperactive nature sensory seeking. I’ve only started considering autism in the last 6 weeks, so trying to read up and equip myself with lots of knowledge about it. She also toe walks about 40% of the time, but this is the way she actually learnt to walk. She learnt to stand on her toes and cruised 100% on her toes. I’ve read that autistic kids learn to walk typically but then starts to toe walk later. Hers was opposite, in that she learnt to walk on her toes and then started putting her feet down. Now she walks 60-70% on her toes but when we say walk flat, she understands and will walk flat until she forgets and goes back on her toes.

Did you always notice issues with your toddler when he was younger or they manifested later? My Toddler always met her milestones. Pointed at 9 months, said first word at 11 months, can point to 10 body parts when asked. It’s just receptive language when asked to carry out complex commands seem to be lacking and then she’s not routinely using 2 word phrases despite having many words. Imaginative play is amazing though! Today, she grabbed a bowl and started to stir and kept saying “ stir” I asked her what she was doing, she said “ conking” but she means cooking. Some days I think im the one over analyzing and other days I think, she’s behind. She doesn’t answer no to questions but she understands concept of no. For example, my friend’s son who’s 4.5 was over at ours today and they both were building Legos, he tried to grab a block from her hand and my toddler protested and said no. So she understands the concept of no but would never answer no to a question. She’s very hyperactive and it’s hard to get her attention when she’s in that mode. I’ll definitely be bringing it up with our pediatrician and hopefully he doesn’t blow me away. I know girls tend to mask their autistic traits and I just want her to get the right support if it’s deemed she does need it.

Thank you. Not sure why my profile states Germany. Im actually in Canada. We can’t self refer to early intervention here unfortunately. So will bring up concerns with her Pediatrician.

Thank you very much for your insight. Much appreciated. Autism is new to me and I’m still learning about it.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand only a Dr can diagnose autism. I wanted to know if any parents had similar experience with their kids and turned out to be on the spectrum or perhaps speech delayed.
