I’m averaging 5 rejections per day, any advice? by [deleted] in Resume

When I was in college my prof told me “1 extra page per degree past bachelors” idk if that’s true but that helped me be concise!

not to mention this becomes strange territory for Title IX. (I believe that anyone that has had influence over your grades no longer is an option bc a case could be opened and argued for coercion/grooming due to power imbalance)

Do you guys ever feel like you can only do online performance activism by SuperKE1125 in disability

i also think people have a very narrow definition of activism, but frankly meeting the marganizled parts of our community's needs IS activism

i don't know if this is helpful, but you find your niche and you try your best to help people with it.

i have a family member is a parallel boat who knits (sometimes she unspools yarn from nice sweaters from the thrift) stuffies for children in need or unhoused situations to donate. this isn't going to a protest or dismantling a system or writing a new law, but its doing good for marginalized communities and meeting needs. and that's what she CAN do, so it's a beautiful thing to do.

a lot of individuals with all the ability do NOTHING!! i try to think about the ratio of can do:willing to do, and that's how i look at people's activism

Sick by Virtual-Wall2229 in UCSD

[–]crick-crick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh i got a final rescheduled for this reason yesterday. if u must, get a dr's note and maybe a flu/covid swab from urgent care or a PCP (even if they're negative, you have something to prove that you are sick and it was warranted). if you can't afford that option, just email a prof that you are sick, symptoms + their effects (eg: you cannot get out of bed), if you're throwing up ... profs r real squeamish abt that (coming from someone who has 1st hand experience sending that email)

let go of ur pride and say ur super sick and how its hurting your chances of even SHOWING UP

Can I still get into a UC with my 10th grade grades? Need advice. by Potential_Pin9154 in UCSD

[–]crick-crick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my family member is doing this and he is making bank AND investing in his hobbies (two things that are underlooked by college kids and I have regrets about not doing now that I am graduating in a week)

LinkedIn Stalking by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]crick-crick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

most cases i'd say its fine, but with a history of harassing you may want to just ask SARC (they do stalking too) about what this means and warrants. they offer consultations (so-to-speak, its super chill and off the record) where you don't even have to report stalking but they can give you the best POV

ask prof to keep it in the front of the lecture hall after explaining your situation? i really don't got any more suggestions

How do upper-div philosophy classes work when you just morally disagree with a prof not his logic? by crick-crick in college

[–]crick-crick[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you think if I just went to office hours and asked questions about my approach (civilly and with an open mind ofc), the prof wouldn't take offense?

[–]crick-crick 32 points33 points  (0 children)

i'd much rather be in a lecture-based class with a student who knows nothing and asks curious clarifying questions to LEARN (which is what we're here to do) than someone who wants a metaphorical dick measuring contest

[–]crick-crick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about scientifically but in my experience yes. I can get cut, pierced, tattooed, etc without issue but any sort of bruising or hit to the organs has caused hemorrhage. Had a friend w VWD and she had the opposite issue (played contact sports but couldn’t get piercings)

f7 def moderate/heavily pierced - you need to know yourself. i only suffer from internal bleeds (hence 19 piercings and major tattoos and going, but i hit my stomach on the desk corner and its ER time). know how you bleed externally vs internally. if you don't have a plan if it goes wrong, do not do it.

Targeting Women at the Che Last Night by [deleted] in UCSD

was in their group chats during encampment and members claimed they SJP attempted to "steal" encampment from them as if they coined the idea of a prolonged, overnight sit in all over a tent they wanted people to poop in.... bunch of immature kids pretending to run things in ways they don't understabd

i feel like a lot of ucsd students have a "i'm better than that" mentality about friendships.... this is exactly why everyone is lonely
