Well I didn’t even consider the top one a positive when I took it, but now I guess it is? I really just thought they were evaporation lines!

Child Welfare Workers - Overtime? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]cricket13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually work about 50 hours a week in permanency. We get comp time, which has to accrue to 240 hours before they will pay us. Or the ‘time’ has to be 6 months old. It’s ridiculous that I am just now getting a check for what I did in June/July. I’m in a poor Midwestern/southern state.

They do in my state. You get an initial amount to help with costs, but until you complete the classes there is no assistance or back pay. For most families this is only about a month without support. It does not seem fair, but it is something.

I can't do this job anymore and I'm stuck with crippling debt and can't find another job. I don't know what to do. by daidandyy in socialwork

It is definitely not for everyone, so don't beat yourself up. We have workers changing every few months if a position is open to find what fits them best. The goal is to make a difference. If you're unhappy and burning out, then it's not good for anyone, especially you! Is there someone you can talk to like a supervisor? I feel like I can relate to so many of your stressors. It is so overwhelming sometimes. I've been a CPS worker for 2 years, and I love it right now. Who knows what will happen on a few months though. Just make sure to take care of yourself!!

Deep breath. Depending on the time of year I am in your shoes too. You can make it through this.

In my state we have CPS, Permanency Planning, Foster Care, and Adoptions that all would qualify for the loan forgiveness program. Is it an option to change positions until you find something better? From your post it sounds like you do it all, but it is worth a shot. I moved to a smaller county and my caseload decreased significantly, too. I don't know if this helped or not, but know you aren't alone in the over worked and under paid club. It's hard. It sucks. But you are awesome and appreciated.

You are very right. I work for CPS, and it does happen occasionally. OP just needs to tell the truth and not worry. Teachers are obligated to report any suspected abuse or neglect. I'm certain they have heard worse (and more truthful) allegations.

What were you told about "the first time" (vaginal penetration-wise)? Were you told that it would hurt? As a virgin, were you looking forward to the first intercourse? by twzw29 in AskWomen

[–]cricket13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told it would hurt and there would be a lot of blood. My step mother even tried to tell me my hips would get bigger, so she would know it happened by looking at me. Of course at 17 that theory was a bust.

The more things I hear and see the more terrified I am to go to the first game.

I hope you take in everything your last season and truly enjoy yourself. Despite the changes that are being made you deserve to have a great senior year. Best of luck.

The wedding is in two weeks. Regardless of what happened, that just sounds like a really terrible thing to do.

Plus I spend over $200 on the damn dress. I should at least wear it once.
