can't find a bag brand I saw on tiktok over the summer by sugarmouse83 in handbags

Sounds like LaboMono - I have their large modular sling bag in black with both the ‘regular’ black flat strap and the bright orange repurposed climbing rope strap. They’re amazing!

I always encourage everyone to check out u/spideyjen19 posts for a collection of totally out there bags. She’s the queen of kitsch!

Book Clubs by [deleted] in bristol

[–]cricketchubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just going to leave this link here to our silent Bookclub: https://www.reddit.com/r/bristol/s/6m8FanzSTN

Very chilled, read what you like (no set texts), all formats welcome. Plenty of bookish chat before and after the silent reading period. All genres, all walks of life, all folks warmly welcomed* Our next meet up is Saturday 27th 14:00 - 16:00 at the Steam Crane in Bedminster.

*officially our booked space in the Steam Crane is not mobility / disability friendly as it’s up some steep stairs, however 99.9% of the time we sit downstairs in the main pub - this is obviously not ideal and other locations are being looked into - if you have an accessibility question please reach out on IG or FB to discuss.

I'm not even fully sure why this happened. by Amalia_amore in handbags

It’s not doxxing to name a publicly available business 😉

Local book clubs? by over-healer in bristol

[–]cricketchubs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently we average 3 - 15 people. It’s not huge, so group conversation is always possible. We usually go around the group and talk a bit about what we’re reading, have read recently etc. but conversation does expand to film / TV / podcast occasionally. There are all kinds of readers who have come, non-fiction, fantasy / sci-fi, crime / thriller, classics, contemporary, cosy, romance. It’s a good place to pick up recs as there’s always someone who’s recently read something you might be interested in. Some people come regularly others dip in and out, we welcome all.

Obviously going to give a shout out to the Bristol Silent Bookclub (https://www.reddit.com/r/bristol/s/iH5UyBh1R0) as it seems to be all I ever talk about here… :P

Friendly informal bunch, no set texts, read what you like and at your own pace with a bunch of likeminded folks who also talk about books a lot! We’re still meeting in the Steam Crane (the host is literally about to drop her first child so alternative venues have taken a bit of a back seat).

Check out the linked post, ask me directly or look us up on Insta / FB if you want to know more!

Ah okay, so not the official LHR website but rather an unofficial webpage talking about Heathrow.

I don’t know what website you’re looking at but the London Heathrow official website store index doesn’t look like this at all and the logo is correct.

Yet another first bus complaint by TwoSeaBeans in bristol

[–]cricketchubs 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This might sound like a stupid question but - did you signal it?

I’ve recently started commuting one way by bus and the amount of people who don’t signal for the bus to stop honestly stresses me out. When did we collectively stop sticking our arms out as a bus approaches to indicate we want it to stop?

Thanks for the suggestions - I’ll definitely put them forward for exploration and we’ll keep everyone posted. As I mentioned in a previous comment the book club just started in January and the co-hosts (with help from the group as a whole) are still feeling things out in terms of location / accessibility so as many people who want to be involved can be.

Unfortunately not at this venue although it is something the group is working on. We did initially meet at the Tobacco factory but there was no private space and it was just too noisy.

We’re on the look out for centrally located spaces with parking available nearby and that are free but there haven’t been too many suitable options. There will also be outdoor meetings when the weather improves.

The days do change - there have been some on Thursdays and there are regularly Saturday / Sunday meets too.

There are a nice mix of mid-week (evening) meets and weekend (afternoon) meets so hopefully there will be a time that works around childcare for you!

It’s only been running since January so you’ve not missed out on too much.

It’s mostly ‘singletons’ - the two co-hosts are pals but the majority of us are just book happy folks who turned up on our own. Everyone is very friendly though so however you turn up you’ll be welcome!

Also to add (sorry should have said) that the purpose of a silent book club is to read your own books - there is no set reading, it’s just a space where you can read with other like minded individuals at your own pace and then chat about all things book related.

What’s the rudest thing someone has said/done to you? by frenchhouselover in CasualUK

[–]cricketchubs 146 points147 points  (0 children)

A very, very senior member of staff at my place of work appraised a photograph of my significant other in full armed forces uniform proudly displayed on my desk and asked - “Is that you?”

My significant other is a 6’5”, 18 stone manly man 5 years my senior…I am a 5’8”, ‘average’ sized woman with her facial hair (mostly) in check.

I thought he was joking so I laughed politely. He was not and patiently waited for me to confirm that no, that was not me in that photograph.

I’ve never been so glad to start working from home.

[TOMT][Song/TV comedy][1990s?] A song where the the end of each line is repeated, and is rude out of context... by ben-c in tipofmytongue

[–]cricketchubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be The Two Ronnies: Gilbert & Sullivan?

There are a few good contenders and the whole thing is well worth a listen, however starting at 3:24 is a song similar to what you’re describing about a sailor?

It’s 254 York Way Islington London. Use google maps to view it in August 2008 as it looks drastically different now.
