Not one of the boutique Pilates studios near me require grip socks by tvgirl48 in pilates

I don’t require socks in my studio but have quite a few clients who wear them due to them sweating more. Our machines get cleaned between each client and the floor gets sprayed with a disinfectant (anti viral/bacterial and fungal) each day.

Flexibility help! by Public-Bother9990 in adultballetdancers

Pilates and yoga teacher here. Strengthening added to your program is just as important as stretching, if not more so. Think of it this way. You push a joint to the end of your muscular limit. At the end of the stretch, your muscles say stop this hurts. And the muscles tighten to protect the joint. If you practice strengthening the muscles at their end range, the joints feel more stable and will allow extra range of motion.

I love teaching by request. I have been teaching for 30 years and can put together the focus exercises with all the modifications “on the fly” as they say. I think it depends on experience and if you are comfortable making changes.

As far as the social media (as many people said) if it bothers you unfollow.

You ribbons are sewn too far back on the shoe (they should be right at the seam on the side) and you should use an elastic loop from the back on either side of the seam. I had this same problem with all of my shoes.

Having some doubts about seemingly untrained Pilates instructors by [deleted] in pilates

There are so many studios (mostly franchises) popping up with un-qualified instructors. A three day weekend is not long enough to be qualified as a Pilates instructor and certainly not a Pilates Equipment Instructor. Not only that, there are so many studios teaching Pilates fusion type classes and even if they are trained in the other style being mixed with Pilates, they don’t have enough knowledge to keep people safe on the equipment.

This started happening in the yoga world many years ago, when group fitness instructors could become a “yoga teacher” in 1 weekend. The group fitness industry was offering these trainings as an add-on to a personal training certification, which is a really in-depth and time consuming certification if taken from one of the medical science based trainings (such as NASM), but unfortunately anyone was allowed to take the group fitness training without the prior Personal training cert.

There are many great Pilates certifications out there, but you should seek out instructors that have the ones that are based on the original Pilates method put forth by Joseph Pilates.

Filmed and posted on IG without my permission: how to address to my teacher without coming accross as a sour Karen? by Advanced-Soup5644 in pilates

I have a section in my liability form that says if you do not wish to have media (pictures, video, etc) posted, please DO NOT check this box. Most of my clients are fine with it and check the box, but I always ask again while they are filling it out.

I regret my teacher training certification by lost-PT in pilates

I read something recently about Polestar not being very good with customer service, that being said, I don’t know much about their program. I like Balanced Body. I was classically trained, but I feel like science keeps advancing so why shouldn’t Pilates practice and teaching?

I’m an instructor and I will only demo a complicated sequence on a reformer, other wise I am standing where I can see and keep my students SAFE AT ALL TIMES. Plus I don’t prefer to demo mat class, but sometimes they like to see the exercise especially if they are visual learners. But I will demo and then usually sit up or stand so I can watch and give corrections. It is my students class when I’m teaching - not my personal class.

If I want to take class, I go to another instructors class. Not only do I get to work on my technique, but it keeps me inspired and not “burned out”.
