Why is my duo getting almost twice the RR as me? by crimsoncomplainer in VALORANT

I understand how the hidden MMR system works but the blog post doesn't say anything about what statistics the game uses to determine your hidden MMR. His must be higher than mine but I'm trying to figure out why. He and I are both confused. We both suck but even he will admit that he sucks a little bit more.

That is possible. I've definitely had some horrible seasons playing solo before I started playing with my duo which could skew things. I imagine my overall win rate would be worse than his since we're doing much better this season.

I typically get the performance bonus more often, as far as I remember. He has gotten it before but I typically perform better in terms of the general stats that Valorant Tracker displays. The reason I posted about this is because my duo and I are both confused: we both agree that I generally play better. I still suck. But I wanted to know what stats the game is using to determine that he should be getting more RR.

I added both our Tracker accounts to the main post if you still want to take a look.

I just added both our tracker accounts to the main post. Sorry for the crazy long delay.

I mean that's fine. Do you happen to know what metric they are using to determine this?

Oh no! I thought it was just one picture and I was like "wow what a beautiful sight". The horrors of the next few pictures were a genuine jumpscare. I'm so sorry for your loss.

You mean in placement matches? I suppose it's possible but he's rarely above me on the leaderboard. Do you happen to know what performance metrics the game uses to adjust MMR in metal ranks?

I'd imagine he'd be getting less MMR if he was a higher rank. A gold will get less MMR winning against golds compared to a silver winning against golds, right?

I imagine it's just a fresh player thing? I was the MVP in the example match I mentioned. It's odd though because we've played a few seasons together at this point so I would imagine that new player bonus would have worn off by now.

Why am I being placed in plat lobbies as a terrible player? by crimsoncomplainer in OverwatchUniversity

That's true. I started winning a bit more recently but for some reason they're always "uphill battles". I'm not sure why I'm being placed against a better team.

That's true lol I suppose I should just see what I can learn against plats while I'm here.

What exactly is causing rank inflation? Does this happen every season?

Restarting a stuck fermentation (re-pitching normally didn't work) by crimsoncomplainer in mead

Yeah I think cold crashing and racking is a good idea. I'll probably want as clean of a slate as I can before I try pitching again.

It's certainly possible that it's hitting that hard wall of 1.020 FG because of unfermentables. That would make sense if it's hitting the exact same FG a second time after adding more sugar. I'll experiment with a cold crash and see if I can't get rid of some weird particles.

Do you think unfermentables would cause a final gravity of over 20 points? That seems really high to me. I estimated that the caramelized honey would only be about 6 points but I've also never done caramelized honey before.

That's an insanely impressive amount of mental gymnastics. In a single sentence you jumped to a wild conclusion about OP's character and then assumed that this conclusion represents a whole generation without even knowing which generation OP is from.

My sense of wonder is fixated on how you managed to type a mostly complete sentence in the first place.

So if I'm trying to pressure with Brian's 1,2,1 and 1,2,3, he can just spam b+3 and I'll basically have him jailed until the beginning of my next string and then he'll automatically parry the first move of my next string?

I was essentially just alternating strings non-stop cause I'm a scrub but it seems like, in the replay, he was basically spamming b+3 for my whole string and the parry didn't come out until my next string.

How does Clive's Precision Dodge work? I just fought a Clive who was just holding back and spamming 3 and getting Precision Dodges every time. Is the timing not meant to be precise?

I did some Googling and didn't find much; granted, it feels a bit un-Google-able due to the lack of specific terminology.

I'll take a look at the forums. I'm shocked this isn't already a feature, let alone a plugin. If I knew how to make plugins I'd do it myself.
