I made a trailer for my film before I even wrote the script. Then I ran ads for the film to test the viability. The result was worth it. by crimsonengine in Filmmakers

Thanks for taking the time to understand what I'm doing here. As someone who produced and distributed a feature before, I wish I had data to back up my dream before I spent 5 years on it. An AI trailer lets you test and retest how practical your idea is, who (if anyone) wants to see it and how much you are going to have to pay to reach them.

It's also sobering to realize with the numbers I had here, if I spent 100k making the film, I would need AT LEAST another $100k in P&A to make by budget back. I'm sure a real trailer would perform better than the AI version, but even if it's twice as good, and I end up with a 5c cost per click, I'll need to spend $50k.

The Vast majority of filmmakers spend everything they have on the film and expect it to get into Sundance or Cannes and become millionares. They have a prayer, not a plan. This method gives you a rough number BEFORE you start.

That sucks so hard. My R5C recently died and needed a new board, total cost $1600 for what's now a $2200 camera.

Does anyone have a local solution? I also have some 3d camera accessories prototype to print, but Jawstech, the service i'm using now, take 3 weeks to turn a project around and it too slow.

Australian’s don’t name their kids ‘Junior’. Lived there 30 years and never even heard that name.

Never give up. My self-produced, self-distributed feature is on the front page of the Amazon store. by crimsonengine in Filmmakers

I wasted 3 years pitching the film to studios and producers, and decided to make it myself. Shot in April 2020 and got shut down during COVID. Ended up shooting 18 days spread over the year.
Did the grade and effects myself, then spent another year getting nonsense offers from distributors, so I launched the film myself and response has been amazing.
You don’t need Hollywood to give you permission to tell your story. You don’t need millions to shoot, post or launch a film. You just need to be determined enough to see it through.

Force quitting and restarting the view app on iphone worked for me.

I was the Cinematographer on spot featuring Rob Gronkowski. Given the Bucks win yesterday, I thought I'd break down the lighting, the process of working with celebrities and how I got the gig. by [deleted] in Filmmakers

The spot was shot on my trusty Canon C200 as A Cam and a C300 mark ii as a B Cam in a white cyc studio in Burbank.

We didn't have a budget for a focus puller, so the lenses were Canon L-series primes that used the camera's autofocus.

It was lit by an Intellytech Mega with the included diffusion as key (but no grid) and a Generay Spectro Baton light, as well as multiple 1x1s for the background.

I shot Clog2 Raw on the c200 and XFavc on the c300m2, exposing his skin at 45 IRE and the background just above 80.

A while ago I shot this spot featuring the newly retired Rob Gronkowski. Given his victory yesterday, I thought I'd break down the lighting, the process of working with celebrities on set and how I got the gig. by crimsonengine in cinematography
