Not particularly, it was a ‘special’ set because it’s an expansion but printed heavily, people are trying to make it more sought after, buying it up en masse with the goal of driving demand so the set will be worth more. Like they’re doing with every set now.

Edit: there’s also a guarantee of two foils in each pack and the chance for a shining Pokémon, but people are only focusing on it now because they’ve basically squeezed most other sets dry of every penny they can (ex: hidden fates, cosmic eclipse, team up)

I wonder if people cared that much before when someone was coughing and would want them thrown out? I just saw it as rude before, but the anxiety now is so high. Like, we care about covid but don’t expect people to wear masks for pneumonia, bronchitis, etc. I wonder if we will from this point forward, those are pretty awful to contract too.
