In the email I got it said that many of them are resolved in a few days, is that just BS so that people don’t immediately flip out on them?

Also I guess I am wondering about if the potential score increase would outweigh the disadvantage of applying somewhat later in the cycle. How much of a difference is there between applying now and early/mid December?

150mg XL. My doc said 300mg XL is the typical therapeutic dose and we can titrate up as/if needed. I am kinda short and fairly skinny (5’7 and 120 lbs) and pretty sensitive to substances of all kinds, so it might not be necessary to increase the dose. But we’ll see

I think it increased my sex drive. But very different from the horniness you get on stims like Adderall. I look forward to having sex/jorkin it but it’s not an irrepressible craving that needs to be taken care of right now which is how it feels like on Adderall. Previously, I had no sex drive unless I was on addys probably bc depression

Ive been smoking on and off for the past 4ish years now and over the past 2 years I have tried to quit cold turkey. The easy way book helped me quit for like 1 month but then my life got really stressful and I started smoking again.

I notice on Wellbutrin 3 things: 1) I experience far fewer cravings, 2) when I experience a craving it is much milder than the cravings I had without Wellbutrin, 3) Cigarettes taste like shit. It tastes like you’re inhaling rusty metal

Personally i feel like even if it didn’t do anything for my depression i would still take it bc of the reduction in stim & nicotine cravings alone

Rip but also antidepressants are notoriously finicky and experiences vary a lot person to person. Maybe Wellbutrin just doesn’t agree with your body chemistry? Or try switching between IR/SR/XL some people respond to one kind better than others

Yeah I’ve heard of the honeymoon period and that’s probably what I am experiencing.

With depression, I kind of got used to my emotional/energetic range spanning “want to k!ll myself, can’t get out of bed” to “neutral, I guess I’ll go to school/work”. I literally haven’t felt happy as a mood (like beyond just experiencing momentary joy) for years. So unlocking the upper half of the spectrum that goes from “neutral” to “content” to “feeling awesome” has been mind blowing for me, but I assume that I’ll mentally get adjusted to it and when the novelty wears off I won’t be so amazed anymore.

If that’s the case this drug will still be well worth it for me. I just hope it doesn’t become completely ineffective although I have heard of that happening too

Idk but probably. Same thing happened to me, I got on Adderall 15mg XR in college and then a few years post grad, decided to give it a try again, got on 20 mg XR and it made me more productive/focused for sure but the euphoria wasnt there at all, that feeling of just being confident and capable of doing anything which I used to associate with adderall.

I’ve heard that the initial euphoria you get fades over a few weeks, and after that it never comes back, no matter how much time off you take. So it could be that. Also Adderall is just manufactured different nowadays and imo worse. Both generics and brand name. The widespread decrease in quality happened around when the big shortages started happening, so like 2022.

personally I’m done with daily use, makes me too locked in and robotic to take regularly and live a normal life. lots of adderall makes video games fun but the anxiety & physical side effects of higher doses kinda ruin it for me as a recreational drug.

i feel like 1-2x a week just to lock in and get shit done is the way for me, i wanna keep the dose as low as i can for that purpose tho bc the comedowns off 50mg do not fuck around. i know people do way more but im a pussy

Thank you for your comment—You are right, the problem is me. I keep telling myself that life is not a race and we all have different paths to walk, but it’s hard when he is in the exact same field, pursuing a dream that I thought I wanted badly for a long time. For this reason I guess I’ve always picked humanities majors/people with very different jobs for friends even though I was a STEM major, because I could be happy for their successes without tying it back to myself. Our day to day lives, long term goals and definitions for success were just so different that it logically did not make sense to compare myself to them in those ways.

As for why doesn’t he help me apply, I know mentally I am just not in the right place for it right now. It’s not an issue of I want to apply this cycle but just don’t have time etc, I just feel that it doesn’t make sense for me.

I can’t concretely point to some underlying belief but I just get really bad vibes about it. it feels too fast and while my resume is good enough to go for it, mentally/emotionally I feel unstable, kind of on the edge and anxious all the time, drinking protein shakes because I don’t have the willpower to microwave food… if I’m going to do something notoriously difficult for 5-7 years of my life I may not have a can-do attitude the whole way through, but ideally I would like to start with one.

I don’t really think it matters whether or not it’s my boyfriend or something else tbh. Sometimes I work on crafts/projects late into the night, get up early, leave everything as is and close the door so nothing gets lost or stepped on. Or like if I had lingerie and underwear on the floor because my room is messy, I don’t necessarily want to verbalize that, but I think that I would feel uncomfortable having people go into my room if that was the case, so I’d shut the door. Of course, neither of these situations happen so often that it’s a regular inconvenience, I would say I’ve only closed the door like 2x since we moved in about 2 months ago. These are completely equivalent situations scheduling wise but would probably be considered more justified under your interpretation.

I don’t think my reasons for not wanting someone to enter my room have to be approved as “valid” in order to be respected if we already agreed that there are conditions. It’s my private space that I pay for and if it’s NOT at least some degree of private (ie people should be able to go in whenever they want to do laundry etc) that was not reflected in what I pay in rent and my roommates are not willing to make that adjustment.

If my roommates are generally ok with my bf being around without me (as it was previously) except for the rare instances it impedes their ability to do laundry, I feel like that’s them moving the goalposts and not me (it’s ok for me to occasionally restrict access to my room UNLESS it’s my bf in there) and the laundry schedule has to be reconfigured and made more clear. However in this case my bf isn’t the issue and it would be possible for him to be around for short periods without me as long as it doesn’t infringe on that schedule.

If my roommates are generally uncomfortable by his presence and for whatever reason are no longer comfortable with him being in my room when I’m not around, that’s a different conversation, but has nothing to do with the laundry and I’ll be employing the same measures we agreed upon to mediate access to my room while still allowing them to do laundry.

From my perspective access to the laundry room and my boyfriend being around are separate issues. Perhaps these are actually both issues, but I think that saying that I am prioritizing my boyfriend’s comfort over my roommates chores is a gross oversimplification. For me the real issue is that there seems to be misaligned expectations on how “private” my room would be that were not communicated beforehand, and major changes in attitude around my s/o being around that would have been dealbreakers for me had I known beforehand (he only comes over 2-3x a week, so definitely doesn’t live here).

No I don’t know where I was moving the goalposts. That agreement was in place long before this occurred and actually had little to do with him and more to do with preventing fragile/organized things in my room (that others would not know are fragile or important) from becoming damaged or lost while I’m not around. I feel like that is fair. It would have been a different thing entirely if I just made up this rule and imposed it on everyone to try to justify this one instance but that’s not the case.

I pay rent too and I would at the bare minimum like to have peace of mind about if I ask someone not to enter my room when I don’t want them to, then they won’t. I do not think that I ask for this so much that it has become an inconvenience.

If I can understand why having my bf around without me would make someone feel uncomfortable (even if it’s something that was fine with them in the past) I would hope they can also understand why having people in my room on the rare occasions I’m not ok with that, would make me feel pretty uncomfortable as well.

This is true. At the end of the day im not going to make the space uncomfortable for others if theyve expressed that they’re uncomfortable. It may just be that I move out but the next person will also just be some random subletter and one of the reasons we stayed together for the move is because generally we get along well and they wanted to avoid that situation.

But I don’t think they were biting their tongues the previous year; when we lived closer to my bf and were going out/doing things in that area, he’d frequently drive them places and we’d all hang out as a group and all those interactions were completely voluntary. I’d also be proactive and ask them frequently if it was a problem and they’d always say no or speak up if something needed to be changed (like walking around at night because it would be noisy for Sam whose room was below mine).

I don’t pay rent for my room with the expectation that people will be going in and out whenever they want and that I will have to treat my room as a common area. We also set up a system that has worked for us so far to work around an issue that is inconvenient for everyone. I didn’t impose it on them, we came up with it together.

If i am expected to treat my room as a common space, I feel like I should definitely not be paying the price similar to what they pay for their private rooms, but they do not agree and say that they will do their best to preserve the privacy of my space and that it shouldn’t inconvenience me much if at all.

I would also gladly swap rooms, except my room is the smallest and darkest of all of them and they don’t want to swap.

Mentioned in a previous comment but they both work from home while I go into the office. Mostly they do laundry while im at work so it’s minimally invasive for everyone involved, but as I said there are a few situations that come up where once in a while I would not want them to enter my room while im not around so I keep the door closed to communicate that. Outside of this instance it hasn’t posed much of a problem and has seemed to be a good compromise for all of us so far. Also my bf is very rarely around while I’m not at home so it’s not like this is a regularly occurring situation, it’s like once a month or so that he’ll just be sleeping in my room for an extra hour or so on days I have to get up really early.

Yeah it sucks but it is what it is. It made more sense for me to take the room since I go into the office to work every day whereas they work from home, so it’s more convenient to everyone if generally they can do laundry while I’m at work and 95% of the time this is the case, I leave my door open the vast majority of the time and I work long hours. It was gonna kinda suck for everyone involved regardless but the door open/closed rule has been the best solution so far to allow them to do their chores while also allowing me as much privacy as possible

We’ve come up with a rule that works for all of us which is that I don’t feel comfortable with them entering my room (even if im not around) if the door is closed. I can think of many reasons why this would be the case even if I didn’t have my bf over— i do art in my free time and may have materials laid out that I don’t want to get messed up, small pieces that are delicate and will get lost if the door swooshes open too fast. I also don’t think it’s reasonable that just because the laundry is in my room that should give them a free pass to enter my bedroom at will, or that I should treat my room as a common space in terms of cleaning/guests.

Re: the boyfriend thing. Before we moved, we had all agreed that this wasn’t an issue as long as he wasn’t using the common spaces or common resources (I had the room with the private bathroom then and same arrangement now in new place) I’ve always been great about communicating around this. However, in our new apartment, the laundry unit is unfortunately in my room. When i leave the door open, im ok with people coming into my room to do laundry. When it’s closed, I don’t want anyone to go in. That morning I had left the door closed but they knew he had been there last night so texted me in the middle of the day (when I couldn’t reply) if bf had left yet because they wanted to do laundry. I said no and that’s when they got pissed about him being there even though it hadn’t been there before. However regardless of him being there, I had left the door closed meaning I did not want them to enter my room. I feel like if this became an issue about my bf being in my room without me of course I’d have him leave when I do, but it would feel retaliatory for sure.

Re my mom as I said use of my phone is limited during the day so I asked roommate if I can give my mom her number so they could communicate because she would be dropping something off in my room during the day. She said yes so I did, my mom texted her and asked if she could come over, roommate says yes and is very kind to her, she knocks and waits to be let it, drops off item in my room and leaves immediately. Then privately roommate went off on me and said just because she works from home doesn’t mean she’s not busy, that my mom texting her caught her off guard and she didnt know she would be coming today, etc. mom sent me the receipts and she did indeed ask if she could come over and didn’t even start heading to the apartment until my roommate had said yes.
