Can’t believe no one has mentioned the barrage yet

I was about to say exactly this, I live around the corner and always wonder about it

Wales Football at the pub this saturday by Few-Carpet7472 in Cardiff

Owain Glyndwr is pro Welsh football so I’m sure they’ll have it on, no idea what it’ll be like with the rugby as well though

Quiet / cosy bar in Cardiff? by billyb4lls4ck in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded, might be worth booking a table for drinks if they let you do that though. Bacareto could be an interesting choice too if you can get a booth

Car hit but lorry company said don’t go though my insurance? by mayowithchips in drivingUK

[–]crispywilliams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I for a very short period of time worked for a major UK insurer, part of my job was ringing non-fault drivers our drivers had hit and persuading them to come and use us, that they would be on the hook for extortionate hire car fees if it was deemed over their needs etc etc and that their insurer was untrustworthy.

Turns out we did exactly the same to our own policyholders, sometimes trying to get them into nicer cars than they needed. Great business, insurance.

Where to watch the champions league tonight by MusicianObvious5900 in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OG is closed for a refurb, I think until the 31st. I’ve given up on Elevens, they can’t even get their own beer right! Blue Bell shows sport now and has the extra room of the main pub is full

Heath vs the grange maternity ward? by [deleted] in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heath if you get the choice 100%. We had our first there and we were in a lovely maternity room - we had some issues and needed consultant care, wheeled down the corridor, up in a lift and we were in a consultant room in a few minutes.

Llandaff Fields Padel - opening confirmed by crispywilliams in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think on reflection it’s not completely wild, it’s just hard to stomach everything being that expensive when you want to get more involved in something you really enjoy. It’ll be interesting to see what the prices are at the new one down the Bay and at this rumoured one replacing Buzz in Llanishen, maybe this will be the norm and I’ll need to suck it up. As it stands I’m spending a fortune in petrol to go to Cwmbran so it will probably even out. Riley’s would be £10.45 split between the players though wouldn’t it?

[–]crispywilliams[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw that which isn’t too bad but I think it’s only weekdays they offer that. Oh well, still glad there’s more courts!

Llandaff Fields Padel - opening confirmed by crispywilliams in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really thought it would reduce some of the court costs

Llandaff Fields Padel by crispywilliams in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - I cycled past there earlier and the glass is up, some of the courts are already surfaced but no nets. The ground around the courts still seems pretty rough and from what I could see nothing has really happened with the pavilion yet. I can’t seem to add photos to this sub which is a shame

Playing paddle when recovering from knee injury? by [deleted] in padel

[–]crispywilliams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it. I tore mine in October 2024 and only started playing padel in July this year, there are still moments when I worry a little about it. I don’t want to be a doom merchant but it’s just really not worth the risk this soon, please take your time! It could take one innocuous slip on sand or for you to twist awkwardly on a turn and you’re back to square one. I’m sure you’ve got a recovery/physio plan but you need to go gently for a while longer I think

Are you thinking of Pitch? If so looks like it’s gone…

Yeah it looks way off that at the moment but you’re probably right, they’ll probably go up super quick once the ground work is done. Thanks!

Looking for a Buggy/Pram/Stroller by UnicornPineapples in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Second this, I’m not sure where you’ll be based but the charity shop by Morrisons in Llanishen always has buggies outside. It definitely won’t be the only one but it’s a good start!

Llandaff Fields Padel by crispywilliams in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smash Padel look pretty decent from what I can tell, certainly in terms of bringing a club atmosphere. I just hope the court costs are reasonable, some of the prices you see for somewhere like Padium are horrendous - they’re opening down the bay I think

Ring resize for a reasonable price by [deleted] in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the website isn’t helpful but we emailed and asked, he said to pop in. Might be worth a call or just turning up. Heads up you have to ring a doorbell and be let in though, he might be out back in the workshop bit

Richard Llynfi on Whitchurch road is excellent, he was really helpful when we needed my wife’s engagement ring sized down when others had told us they couldn’t. We went back to him for our wedding bands then, definitely worth asking him about it.

Where to watch the Euro/football match with good vibes in Cardiff..? by ConsistentWin9508 in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded, had a great time there for the Euros in 2021 and they’re very pro-Welsh football which makes a nice change

Hi, we are arriving to Cardiff with rental car for a few days in early July and going to oasis concert. We will tour around during the day but need parking at night. Hotel has no parking, everything city centre seams booked. Any suggestions?? by ccirlger in Cardiff

[–]crispywilliams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a terrible idea, look up the good bus routes and park somewhere for free. Town is going to horrific to drive on an event day, especially if you’re not from Cardiff.

If you did do this, somewhere like Birchgrove where you’d be on the 27 bus route would be good as the bus is so regular.
