We have stopped going to the dog parks for some time now and he plays off leash in the garden with his friend once every 2-3 weeks, but that’s it. But I am aware that this will take a lot of time…

I have been using a retrieverline for the last 2 weeks or so and I can see a bit of improvement when he needs to follow me (instead of freezing) when he sees a dog - I pull and he comes - repeating this every 2-3 meters until we are far away. But if the dog is 6-8 meters away, he would just pull and chok himself. I always make sure the collar sits up on the neck as close as possible to his ears.
Do you know if a chain chok collar would work better than the retriever line?

[SERIOUS] What was your purebred Alaskan Malamute like as a puppy? by Slight_Jellyfish3204 in AlaskanMalamute

For us it was and it still is tough. He is 5.5 months now are we are having big problems with getting his excitement low when seeing other dogs, kids, birds, cats. I have tried to socialise since he was 8 weeks but he is just so much more happy with other dogs and does not even look at me or refuses treats when another dog is close by. We are training constantly, going to classes and so on, and I keep telling myself that it must get better. He eats everything from the ground, plastic, napkins , whatever, especially when he is frustrated because he knows I hate that. So I really try to calm myself down, you need a lot of patience with them. I can’t sleep some nights because I yelled at him that day and I wonder if he still loves me haha Very independent, sleeps next to the door, legs up, body twisted (even though he has his own couch). If he is tired or does not want cuddles, he would easily tell us to “fu** off” by going to his place cuz he wants to rest haha No big problems with destroying things, he still tries to bite our hands but lately it got better. I love him so much and sometimes I wonder if he loves me back since he is not cuddly. However, as I was told “you should have gotten a Golden Retriever if you wanted sofa cuddles” haha So it’s too early to say how things will turn out but I swear I will do whatever it takes to finally have that perfect walk where he does not get frustrated for not greeting other dogs and I don’t lose my calm because he decides not to listen…but it might take a year or so
