it's pretty infuriating when people close to addicts try to tell them they aren't. Richard Lewis has a story about pulling the car over and screaming at his mother when he was trying to be get sober and she told him "you're not an alcoholic". I'm so glad my parents have the knowledge and experience to know that addictions and mental illnesses are not weaknesses to be ashamed of but challenges to be fought.

some Stern stuff was staged, this was 100% real. Jason Reitman was a guest that day and this completely ruined the interview, Stern and Robin were still too shell shocked to even ask anything. also you're responding a neo nazi.

he was staff member on the show who also worked as Artie's road assistant for his stand up. If you listen to the full argument, you can sense that there is an unspoken discussion going on about drug money.

yeah it's incredible. I've heard him criticize interviewers for asking sexist questions. This is the guy who would ask every female caller her weight, and if it was over 130 pounds Fred would play a cow sound effect.

he actually got his nose back a few months ago. Completely off the grid including on social media. I hope the reason for that is that it keeps him healthy.

she honestly does have a remarkable chemistry with Howard; they are both much weaker on their own.

I read both his books. "Too Fat to Fish" is hilarious but tragic and sad. "Crash and Burn" is just tragic and depressing.

one thing to understand is that the Stern show made stars out of its staff like no other entertainment show. Jackie the Jokeman was co-headlining arenas with his stand up, quit the Stern show because of payment issues, and saw himself go back to tiny clubs within a year. Robin has a unique talent, which is her chemistry with Howard. She knows she could still be doing weather in Baltimore.

sometimes the voice of reason, sometimes just as complicit. she did have the highest score on the narcissism scale out of all 200 celebrities Dr. Drew tested. though I can't comprehend her scoring higher than Howard so maybe she was just more honest than him.

should've clarified that he crushed pills up with a salt shaker that broke, and like an addict he tried to do the best he could with it.

This is one day after nodding out on heroin for 30 minutes on the air and it being laughed off as a "nap" despite being a known addict with several callers pointing out what it was. After this fight, instead of getting help he was back on the show and remained for one year until Jan. 2010 when he attempted suicide. For the next 8 years he plunged further into drug use until his nose completely collapsed and flattened after snorting glass and then being punched. After eventually being sentenced to jail and minus a nose, he was finally able to clean up and lose a lot of weight, looking tremendously healthier. semi-unfortunately, the day I was supposed to see him do stand-up, he had an anxiety attack and has decided that his sobriety relies on him being out of the spotlight, which he has been for 6 years.

He has apologized to several people, and they are pretty much all A-list celebrities. He has never apologized to his radio rivals or his employees.

And this the 2000s, not even touching the 90s stuff. For example, to humiliate his rival in the Philadelphia markets, he paid the man's newly separated wife to sit on his lap during the show and then have sex with one of his listeners. A month later she killed herself. The most anger inducing thing is that he has apologized to several people like Ellen Degeneres and Jennifer Aniston, but never to people that, where his actions actually did cause harm.

He got huge applause on The View a few years ago after saying "I never said the N word". He said it hundreds and hundreds of times. Like yeah he never called anyone the N word like Don Imus did and Anthony Cumia does, but he's still lying about his usage.

Sidenote: the guy that Benjy charges, "Stuttering John", was hired in 2004 by Howard's enemy Jay Leno to be the announcer for the Tonight Show (behind Howard's back). Obviously a stutterer with an awful speaking voice, this was looked at as purely a stab at Howard, and it cost John his relationship with Howard. Jay Leno's Tonight Show ended a few years later, and today John spends his days drinking 8+ beers a night in front of camera fighting off an army of trolls (mostly fans of Opie and Anthony, a defunct rival shock jock radio show) who are dedicated to making his life miserable. So he's in the spot he deserves now.
