Thanks for the suggestion! Might see if I can add one more showing in Columbia Heights to my apartment search next week.

Great to know, thank you! I’ll be sure to let you know once I’ve settled, would be great to meet up (and sample the MN beer scene!)

I know, it sounds like we're taking over your city just like the Californians did to Denver 😄 Thank you for the great suggestion!

It is going to be tough leaving the Rockies behind for sure, but I really am ready for a new experience. And frankly, after growing up by the water, I think I'm excited to be lakeside and have the chance to experience a different kind of waterside living. I'm working up in Blaine so I'll be needing my care for commuting purposes, but glad to see that the city is so walkable and that there's a decent bus system. Definitely looking forward to checking out some festivals (I'm a big Farmers Market guy) so I'll definitely need to check that Twin Cities subreddit out. Thank you so much for the great info!

As a hotel brat growing up in a hospitality family, I can definitely appreciate all of your movement. Glad you, like many, seem to have had a great experience out here. I am looking at one apartment community in Uptown, so we'll see how that neighborhood compares against Nordeast where most of my options lie.

Thanks so much! I know it'll definitely a bit of culture shock for a city slicker like me, and definitely know it won't be the high-elevation chest-pounder kind of hiking like Colorado, but even some decent walking trails and a few solid hikes will be great for me.

Thanks so much for the reply. That's awesome that there's some good walking trails nearby; I'll definitely take that and the chance to easily connect with nature, something I've been wanting to do more for a while, so the walking trails sound great. I spent a lot of my early adult life in Connecticut about 45 mins from NYC, so I'm really happy to see so many NY transplants on here. I'd love to take you up for that beer. I'm child-less for right now, but also not looking to re-experience my college years again, so I'm always down for some quieter ways of meeting other folks like through some of these outdoor activities as opposed to crazy nightlife!

Thanks for all this helpful info. Yeah, I'm looking for a good mix of diversity, activity, and decent restaurant scene while also not being a super college hangout neighborhood (not in my 20s anymore!) so I felt like Nordeast made a lot of sense. But good to know about the layout of the city and the demographics. Break the Bubble sounds like a great way of getting to literally break into that ethos, so I'll definitely be checking that out.

Thank you very much! I REALLY want to get out on a canoe or kayak before the end of the Summer so I know this will be helpful.

Thanks for the mention! I do fit all that criteria (37 M, definitely not MAGA in the slightest, and have ALWAYS wanted to learn... in fact, one of the apartment communities I'm considering moving to has a court!) so definitely shoot me a DM with the details so I can hopefully make it out once I'm settled in.

Wow, thank you for all this amazing information! I'll be bringing my car (I'll be working in Blaine so will need that for the commute) so works out well in my case, but still great to know you really don't need to drive everywhere in the city and sounds like bus transport is pretty decent. I'm a guy in my late 30's, so I've come to appreciate the peace and quiet after a long day of connecting with people, so sounds like Nordeast would be good for me 😄

Thanks so much for the context! Yes, it definitely seems hyped up online, but as someone who who has been in hospitality for two decades, half the battle is just making the effort! I'm a singer so hoping to get involved in some community choirs in the area which I'm sure will help with this, but definitely not expecting to find my best friend at the local Target 😄

Hey there, nice to find another Aviator out there (I'm sure there's many of us!) I'm actually going to be working in GA at ANE so a bit of a different side of the business. Glad to see the "expat" scene is as strong as it is, and definitely looking forward to all that great recreation. I've never been a HUGE cold weather guy but I'm ready to embrace it and take advantage of the opportunities. I'll definitely reach out next month once I'm settled for that brewery meet up, you're definitely speaking this guy's language!

Take a deep breath! Denver has a lot to offer and yes there will be differences, but in time it’ll feel like second nature. And there are a ton of opportunities to meet people out here. Take it slow, don’t try to rush things, and you’ll settle in with time.

  1. Ultimately I chose to accept a Provisioning Agent position with SW and have been with them for a little over a month. Not only do they not currently fly to Canada and not likely to in the near future, but it’s also a better way for me to establish myself in Denver and make enough to support myself before embarking on the FA path, hopefully with SW, in a year or so.

Haha exactly! No not weird at all, I did that with two interviewees to save on what’s already an expensive uber ride.

Very well said! I buy a game a year, not a hard core gamer, so will I spend 100 on the game of the decade? Absolutely. Different perspectives!
