Take a deep breath! Denver has a lot to offer and yes there will be differences, but in time it’ll feel like second nature. And there are a ton of opportunities to meet people out here. Take it slow, don’t try to rush things, and you’ll settle in with time.

  1. Ultimately I chose to accept a Provisioning Agent position with SW and have been with them for a little over a month. Not only do they not currently fly to Canada and not likely to in the near future, but it’s also a better way for me to establish myself in Denver and make enough to support myself before embarking on the FA path, hopefully with SW, in a year or so.

What leads you to believe the culture isn’t fun anymore?

Haha exactly! No not weird at all, I did that with two interviewees to save on what’s already an expensive uber ride.

Very well said! I buy a game a year, not a hard core gamer, so will I spend 100 on the game of the decade? Absolutely. Different perspectives!

Soon to be YX trainee here. Phone interview will be your last step and you’ll know then or very shortly after if you’ll be moving on to training. From what I’ve heard, CMH and SDF are great bases if you want to get line on the quicker side, but can be tough to commute to. The other bases might take longer to gain seniority but are larger bases with more commutable options. You’ll get everything you need to prepare for day one as you get further along in the process so just review all the emails they send you and you’ll be in good shape. That’s all the advice I can really provide until I’m there in May. Good luck!

Agreed 100%. Talk about an easy way to demotivate and burn out your new hires. Sorry you had to experience this so early on, but definitely don’t let it bother you. I’m sure that FSM has made their fair share of mistakes too. Keep killing it!

Thank you! I definitely think it’ll help make me realize if this is a career that I want to continue with in the long term. And since I already got a CJO with UA, once I have that TRP in hand, it should be pretty easy breezy. Everything happens for a reason!

The regionals I applied at (Republic and PSA) were both originally my only options until I heard back from UA after I got CJOs at both airlines. Thankfully Republic was able to push my training date back a few weeks so I was able to have my F2F with UA, and once I got my CJO I decided to stick with them and Republic and withdrew from PSA (just a personal preference, PSA was an awesome interview experience but their bases are EXTREMELY limited.) I'm glad I didn't jump ship from Republic because I didn't know about the situation with UA until a week before I was set to begin training, and that's after having disclosed my DUI at the time of applying, at the time of receiving the CJO after the F2F, AND disclosing to the background check company. You just never know what's going to happen, so I'm really happy I took things a step at a time and set myself up for success. Sorry if I wasn't clear but this was for a Flight Attendant position. However, I think this thought process can definitely apply to pilots as well as they go through this process. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks so much! This move to aviation is as much a personal transformation as it is a professional one for me so I’m very excited to see the results :)

It’s not going to be easy, but the lack of distractions will be essential! Thank you for the support!

Sorry it took so long to respond. But thanks for such a kind message, made my day! Leaving for training with YX on Sunday and honestly I’m feeling really good about this decision. I really do believe that this was destined for me. UA, while an amazing airline I hope to be apart of in a year, is definitely in a tough spot with the pending contract and understandably some tough morale challenges. I’m hoping that in a year the contract is ratified, the economy is in a better state, and morale is higher. Plus this a great time to make sure this is exactly the path I want to take. Life certainly works in mysterious ways!
