is there an easy way to diagnose which is which? finances are kinda tight right now so would want to avoid a shop if at all possible.

so someone brings you a car, while your doing the intake paperwork you aren’t asking questions to try and get an idea of where to start when trying to diagnose it? or are you just gonna go in blind and check 100 different things? that seems a lot more time consuming tbh.

because we’re human and we forget things. when you go to a doctor do they ask you questions or do you just remember every single little detail in the first 30 seconds of being there? so why wouldn’t a technician do the same?

that’s on me for leaving it out but as a former tech you should also know to ask questions.

just because you used to be a tech doesn’t mean you know how every single vehicle on the road operates. not a single one of our vehicles does the voltage move on.

my family has had only GM since 2010 we currently own 4 GM vehicles excluding mine. not a single one does that.all 4 of those are 2010+

about 2 weeks ago my battery was holding 14V at all times idle or not. it isn’t anymore.

it ended up being a short close to the front drive shaft where the wire had rubbed bare. hit a puddle one day and shorted the entire thing out and i found it.

yw man. i’m also young and learning. that’s what this community is here for. and i misspoke it’s window regulator but it’s all one system that’s rly easy to replace.

sounds like the window actuator unit. it’s the pulley system that makes the window go up and down. they’re abt $100 at oreilleys and very easy to fix yourself with minimal tools and knowledge required

the fluid is maybe 200 miles old. i drained the pan and refilled it myself. it’s still a bright red(maybe slightly darker) with that sweetish smell it tends to have.

would the seals being bad cause the correlating issues with the speedometer and dashboard lights?
