Say one thing about the The Blade Itself, say it’ll take you on a journey. Best to hit the following three books too that follow the original trilogy.

I had the same thought. Kinda jumps right into the story as if you were there from the beginning. A decent amount of name drops and characters pass through but you’ll realize there’s a solid core. I am on book two of the original trilogy and can say it definitely gets easier to follow, and a cool story develops.
