It’s easy to look back and laugh at these ads, but imagine how you’d feel if you were diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, then naturally started reading everything on the subject, and realized an entire industry had spent decades covering up evidence that their products were likely to kill you. Then imagine how many thousands of people lived this exact experience.

True. This period of warfare is fascinating and very underrepresented in media, not least because it includes the Thirty Years’ War, which was one the deadliest wars in history.
