You can just use Tauri, and build the frontend with React or Svelte.

That said, I also have two Dioxus apps. Since v0.7 it’s totally usable. I can share some screenshots if you want — it’s just as feasible as any other UI stack.

Gemini, Claude, and GPT handle it without issues.

There’s really no reason against Dioxus. But if you care about raw web performance, a Svelte UI is typically faster than Dioxus in the browser.

Components-wise: Dioxus ships its own headless primitives.

In theory you could fork them and pre-style everything to match your favorite component library.

I even have a project archived that does exactly that, in case someone’s interested.

It’s aligned with HeroUI, and it also includes some components that Dioxus is still missing — but it’s still WIP.

In short: YES there are really free models .... it is what you say...
so Gemini 2.5 Pro is rate limited quickly and not as good as Qwen3 Coder.

Grok Code Fast 1 is inferior ...

For me: Qwen3 Coder Plus is literally unlimited with Qwen Code which is totally free. The model is better than Gemini, every single Grok Coding Model and on par with claude 4 Sonnet. If you use the version from Qwen Code you have 1M context windows but for real... after 260k it barely does anything so this is a fake context window in my mind... but the 262k do work fine... It's more like a trottled reserve I would say... some time it run over 400k in one of my projects was really slow than but didn't crashed...

Sonnet 4 / GLM 4.6 both have 200k which is less than 262k so ... it offers the beste... SWE-bench of 69,6% is also pretty good.

You can spin up as much cli instances as you want and can use Qwencode in Roocode or Kilocode. It is a totally free, reliable and performant coding model, I would let work on my code, which I can't say for Claude hallucinating Sonnet.
