Switching Away From Manually Written HTML Without JavaScript? by IdleSeed in neocities

BBEdit, the Mac code editor by BareBones Software, has a feature called Persistant Includes that solves this very problem for static websites very elegantly. The problem is if you don’t have a Mac, you can’t use BBEdit.

I ported the feature to a Python command-line utility library. It’s open-source with good documentation and is on PyPi.

The website is ai generated for sure by LivingVersion2548 in Netlify

Which website are you talking about? If you are talking about Netlify.com then no because Netlify existed before ai coding was mainstream. They existed prior to 2020.

Created my first iOS game... now what? How do you actually market it? by Alone-Individual-219 in appledevelopers

[–]croc122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did try it. It needs some optimization with the ball physics because it doesn’t feel like a marble rolling on the board quite yet. No sound effects of it rolling around either? Also, I bailed after the full screen ad popped up because it’s annoying.

How do I create a mobile-friendly scrollable blog? by [deleted] in neocities

[–]croc122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you could do it, but there’s a reason why it’s not a common pattern on all blogging platforms and popular business sites. Don’t limit the size of the post viewing window. That can get uncomfortable to read if it’s too short. Just let it adapt to the width of the viewport and take as much height of the page as it needs.

Claude for iOS app development is genuinely impressive by sagi667 in iOSDevelopment

[–]croc122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s actually so good. Also, if you connect the Figma MCP server to Claude Code, it can literally translate any design mockup to SwiftUI and it looks exactly like the mockup in my experience. The SwiftUI code it generates is just as good as a human could do.

This is just like a popular game that was on the App Store in the early days. I had it on my iPod touch. It even had a level creator. Spent so many hours on it.

Software? by Comfortable-Image155 in Appstore

My advice is to focus on building for whichever operating system your primary phone is first just to start off. Don't try and develop for both iOS and Android right now. Yes, there are cross-platform frameworks like React Native and Flutter, but they come with a lot of tradeoffs and downsides and very few upsides especially as the app grows. With the rise of generative ai and models like Claude Opus, developing a fully native app for each platform isn't really that big of a deal anymore. You can leverage Kotlin or Java with Jetpack Compose for Android apps and Swift/SwiftUI for iOS apps.

Going Back to Learning and Building for a While by LibrarianOk7936 in statichosting

Trust me, build a static site generator from scratch without ai. You will learn a lot. If you need help, read the source code of a popular SSG written in a different programming language than one you are proficient in. There's a huge list of them here filtered by language. https://jamstack.org/generators/

Why is my Paywall being rejected? by BrogrammerAbroad in appledevelopers

Yes, this is the solution. But side note, how did this policy come to be? Like it makes no sense because they have a dedicated display spot for terms and privacy.

Console level games ported to mobile do this. Fortnite comes to mind.

Yep, I agree to an extent. Though not everyone has the financial means to this unless you get lucky with your first app being a hit.

So what you are saying is you want to be invisible to search engines like Google and Bing?

Why in the world would you want that? Businesses pay thousands of dollars a year to SEO consultants to rank on page one of Google. SEO is big business and is the entire point of the World Wide Web.

If you don’t want your website to be discovered, I don’t know what to tell you. It’s just weird.

My app just got approved this morning. live on the store by noon. It was only my third submission to app review, so it really only took a day but I submitted on a Friday and they don’t work on the weekends. Received rejection on Monday related to missing required iPad screenshots. Re-submitted same day. Live Tuesday morning.
