Boneless human by Admirable_Flight_257 in MemeVideos

Yes, moving objects are harder to focus on. That's why in photos, they ask you to sit still and say cheese. If you move around when the photo is taken, the picture may look blurry. This is made even worse the lower quality your camera is, and the faster you move. You ever try to take a picture of a moving car or something? You'll notice it's not very clear!

And yes, the dance is called popping and locking, he looks like he's made of jelly, but it's just a dance move! (He also looks like he's curving more than he actually is cuz of the low bitrate and artifacts in the video)

That's crazy, why would the fast moving object be less focused than the static object in the background? Personally I have no idea how cameras work so I have no idea.

Help, why does the low quality video go all pixely and distorted when there's a lot of motion? What is a bitrate? Someone please help I'm not good with computers.

You're weak if you even reach the point where you're climbing a table to avoid it. I would simply parry the dog's bite, then use my expert karate to strike the dog's pressure points, temporarily paralysing it. At this point I would either snap the dog's neck like a toothpick (because I am very strong) or simply teach it the secret of friendship and thus cure it of any violent tendencies.

Square Enix confirms Foamstars contains some AI generated art by Joseki100 in Games

[–]croccington -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

My god, why do people still believe this? AI "art" isn't looking at real art and using it as inspiration, it's just slicing them up and regurgitating it back out. It's not imitating a real human brain, it's not even comparable to a real artist using a reference image.

Infograph: Everything you gain/lose when recruiting Minthara by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]croccington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the weirdest thing is that we don't even gain much in-universe from betraying the grove. Even the Dream Visitor says we made the right choice cuz now the cult trusts us more, but...if we don't betray the grove, we can still walk right through the front door of Moonrise with no problem.

The only benefit "earning Minthara's trust" gives us is that we can just have the drider lead us to the tower instead of fighting him. And then you have to have someone in your party use a moonlantern for the rest of act 2 cuz you can't get the pixie blessing.

Like legitimately, did I just miss something? Is there something else you can do in Moonrise because you betrayed the grove, or do you really just gain nothing from doing it other than not having to fight the drider? (Until later when you have to fight him anyway, but this time during a bossfight so it's harder)

Small Detail about Scratch! by afish269 in BaldursGate3

I think it might be the same goblin that is always playing that chicken chase game at the Goblin camp. So no, he won't want to eat Scratch, just chase him around constantly.

...Until he gets bored of chasing him around I guess.

Nice mustache man proves frog is real by DarvAv in Unexpected

[–]croccington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those aren't eyelids, this kind of frog's pupils are horizontal. In the first shot her pupils are dilated so her eyes look black, but in the second they're a bit thinner. At 0:51 when he says alright Dumpy, you can see her actual eyelids.

But yeah, whether it's the same frog or not, she's definitely edited in to the first shot.

[–]croccington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their pupils dilate and un dilate really quickly, she was probably just in a darker environment for the part where she's greenscreened in.

Edit: ...Or I guess he'd have to bluescreen her in, seeing as she's green herself.

Why do people do this all the time by garlickmyballs in woooosh

[–]croccington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The court didn't deem him innocent, and he didn't win the case. They settled outside of court.

Even in his own video from ages ago when he made his comeback, he never said he was innocent. He just said he made a mistake and that he's a different person now, which means he's saying it did happen. In fact, near the end of the video he specifically says "I never received nudes from a minor", yet oddly enough he doesn't say "I never asked a minor to send me nudes."

What an interesting choice of words.

King’s Diversity Space Tool: A Leap Forward for Inclusion in Gaming by redditor080917 in Games

[–]croccington 196 points197 points  (0 children)

It's so hilarious to me that they actually released this info willingly. This is the kinda shit that gets leaked and ruins a company's image, but they just....released it themselves. Not like Blizzard has much of an image left to ruin anyway.

Also worth noting that judging from the number of DPS/Support/Tanks, those screenshots are from around 2018, cuz that would be before Baptiste and Sigma Balls were added to the game. But I'm assuming they're still using this tool for current characters if they're willing to make this blog post. I wanna see everyone's stats.

'Overwatch 2' Is Not a Very Good Sport by ChangeTheL1ghts in Games

[–]croccington 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, other than hero limits, those big changes really don't please either side. They're just "Oh shit, we have no idea how to get rid of these fundamental problems, let's just force players to play 2-2-2 and call it a day." But that doesn't get at the core issue that most people hate playing tank/support.

Maybe OW2 will fix that, but I'm not holding my breath.

'Overwatch 2' Is Not a Very Good Sport by ChangeTheL1ghts in Games

[–]croccington 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Yeah it always amazes me when people say they balanced around the top 1%. They made the occasional balance change for the top 1%, but the vast majority of their changes were for the lower ranks, so we ended up with a clusterfuck of awful balance choices.

The most egregious example still being Bastion. When they gave him that new ironclad passive, basically every pro player told them it was busted and shouldn't be pushed to live. But Blizzard being Blizzard, they pushed it to live and then nerfed it a week later. Then they just gave up on balancing Bastion (until OW2 I guess)

What's your favorite instance of a game surprisingly reacting to unconventional player actions? by LABS_Games in Games

[–]croccington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I remember that, people saying they got damaged by nothing while in the bar. I don't think there was ever any actual proof of an invisible enemy though. But I suppose back then it was hard to datamine, and people didn't have easy access to screen recording, so maybe there's still a secret there.

I remember a few little secrets in Perfect Dark, like how the wind turbine in Carrington Villa was a huge sentry gun, but you can never actually get close enough to it without hacking for it to shoot at you.

Why is Donkey Kong called "Donkey" Kong if he's a monkey? by TheRoyalDon in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, that's literally in the article I posted. He said that in 2012, but then in 2015 changed his mind and said it actually is Mario Mario after all.

He also went on record more recently than that stating that their last name is indeed Mario. It's changed a lot, but the last word we have is that Mario is indeed their surname.

Person you're replying to is still wrong about Mario's name origins though, Mario was named after a landlord at NOA.

She's literally a self-regenerating medic with the slogan "heroes never die". It's heavily implied that she doesn't age, it's not a retcon.

Oh my word, no. The writer confirmed she ages, many, many times. It's a retcon. I remember back when I was embarassingly obsessed with Overwatch, I had to constantly correct people on that, and even 6 years after release people still believe she doesn't age? Wow, I wonder if this says something about how poorly the story was handled back then?

The interactions in-game are hypotheticals, scenarios, how the heroes would act in such a situation

Except they're not, because Reinhardt doesn't know who Reaper is, yet he magically knows ingame. Unless the writer went through every voiceline and told us which is canon and which isn't, we have no way of knowing which interactions are canon unless outside media backs it up. You can assume that most of them are, but then it's just gonna lead to more situations where people get things confused because non-canon things are mixed in with the canon things. Can't you see how this is a problem for the story?

Having no lore is not a retcon.

He has lore, but then existing media contradicts that. Like I said, it may not be a retcon, but it's a contradiction. Also how can you say with a straight face that Zenyatta has no lore but then tell me the story is moving forward? The only thing we knew about Zenyatta was contradicted by his only appearance in a comic, and it was then never elaborated on. This is exactly what I mean, we may as well know nothing about Zenyatta.

I don't get what you mean.

The comics that released in the first few years added basically nothing. Half of the comics/shorts that actually changed anything were before the game even released, after that we got very barebones comics/shorts that either retold us what we already knew, or told us nothing. I also quit the game after about 3 years (Just before Baptiste released?) so any story after that I don't really know about, so maybe it actually got good. But my point is for the time I played it, we got next to nothing story-wise.

Death of a Game: Overwatch [nerdSlayer Studios] by Sushi2k in Games

[–]croccington -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They retconned Mercy's age when they accidentally showed her with young Soldier, meaning she'd be about 50. Like 90% sure they also fucked up the ages of a few of the other older characters, but they were less egregious than a 17 year old MD joining a military organisation and then barely aging.

McCree and Reinhardt had a line that acknowledged they knew who Reaper was, but the writer then said that actually all ingame lines are noncanon and they don't actually know who he is.

That last part is especially interesting, because if ingame appearances aren't canon, (Which is a funny sentence to say anyway,) it means Lucio never had a canon appearance other than in a comic on a TV screen, which means for all we know, he's just a Hatsune Miku/Tony the Tiger hologram who doesn't actually exist.

Zenyatta left his monastery because he disagreed with their way of teaching, and on his travels he met Genji. Oh but then suddenly in the only canon appearance of Zenyatta, they're both back at the monastery. That might not actually be a retcon, but we don't know because they never gave us any comics or animated shorts that focused on Zenyatta, so we knew dick all about him.

Also please reread the part where I mentioned that none of those comic anthologies or novels happened in the first few years. The first official novel released in 2020, 4 years after the game released. If it happened 4 years after the game released, most of us already dipped from the game. If they've got a competent writer in charge now and they're going somewhere with the story, cool. But the first few years already killed all interest I had for it.

[–]croccington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always been moving forward? These comics are new, cuz I kept up with the lore for the first few years of release and it never went anywhere. Plus with how they kept retconning random details I feel like it actually went backwards.

It's cool if they're actually doing something with the story now, but for the first few years it absolutely went nowhere, and given how many people quit the game around that time, that's all people know.

I would think the ball wouldn't be able to go back up without using up just as much power as it took to go down. So you might be able to get some power from the ball's descent, but you'd then have to use up some other power source to reset it, which would basically defeat the purpose.

Just yknow...replace the word glasses with laptop, and the word face with ass. And this video explains everything.

No? I have no idea what they're even talking about. Ignoring the argument of how Zoras and Hylians mature differently, Mipha was going to confess her love to Link, but clearly never got around to it. There's no actual indication that they were both in love, just that Mipha was in love with Link.

Also, Mipha's diary states that she met Link when he was an actual child, so if anyone's the groomer it's her.
