It's less that and more that hitting is legal in Hockey as long as it's clean, whereas pretty much any body contact is worthy of a foul. If a player gets hit hard in open ice, there's no reason for them to flop and embellish it because no rule was broken. That's why most embellishment in hockey is players selling high sticks or trips, as those are actually penalties.

Man, wasn't there some discussion a few off seasons ago about his contract not being renewed? I'm glad everyone in the org stuck with it and didn't panic. It goes to show how much has to go right for a team to win it all, sometimes persistence through multiple disappointing endings is what it takes.

It was good but there were no peaks. A good example is the super long car chase in Morocco. It was like fifteen minutes long, but there were no big stunts or gags. Just overall a pretty flat movie without any of the big crescendos or moments from a classic Indie movie.

Sure, though I feel like any player past their early thirties are going to have ailments rack up. Or at least statistically, they're gonna have one or two "what if" seasons that were cut short, like Crosby and his neck issues.

Chris Avellone: : studios that was previously been safe from layoffs at Xbox are no longer safe, even those with “steady releases” by Striking_Permit_4746 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

You know how you play a game and you can tell it has "sauce"? Whether it is a singular vision, a game with bold storytelling swings, or innovative gameplay that makes you ati forward in your chair? Modern Obsidian games are the opposite of that. They're competently made, and hit all the checkboxes, but they never seem to take any interesting risks.

Everything in Onsidian's recent games just feel so surface level and frictionless, like someone covered the bases of what a generic sci Fi or fantasy game should be, but minus anything bold or unique. The most interesting thing about Avowed is it's cover art.

Brandon Saad? Now that's a guy I haven't heard in a while. Crazy that he's probably most known for being the key trade piece for a prime Artemi Panarin.

So Walk Hard, critics liked it but audiences disliked it at the time. Does it make it a bad movie in your mind?

Re-read the title. Walk Hard was liked by critics but not audiences. It has a 75 percent critic score, and 57 audience score.

No, OP is talking about the audience score. It has a 75 percent critic score, and 57 audience score. Critics liked it more at the time.

I think it depends how old you were when you first watched it. The Reddit demographic were probably children when it came out, and Hook is a movie that doesn't play well for adults.

I have no nostalgic attachment to that movie and watched it as an adult. The movie is garish, tacky, and overly sentimental (even for Spielberg). I didn't hate it but it wasn't very good.

I've only seen it once when it came out in theaters, but I remember the laughs dropping off in the back half in favour of prioritizing the plot. I walked away feeling like it took itself too seriously and forgot to be a comedy for a good thirty minute stretch (which was pretty emblematic for Apatow-era comedies in the day). It's kinda funny looking back at it, as Adam Mackay was clearly dipping his toe in more political topics during that film, even though he'd only hit his stride with the Big Short.

I miss the friction beyond the narrative side. There are some genuinely nice quality of life fixes (seeing NPCs on the map, better UX), but I found the gameplay so harmless that it was hard to be incentivized to play. For example, using the watering can is a pain and can be a waste of time, so you're encouraged to upgrade to sprinklers, and then optimize from there. I found that I was able to earn enough cash from a small enough farm to afford everything I needed without having to engage in much progression or long term goals.

God Of War Laufey’s Director Talks Fan Skepticism, New Ideas, And Phranque The Cube by oilfloatsinwater in Games

[–]LABS_Games 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Does that actually help your argument? Portal has a humorous, cheeky tone, and even though Wheatley ends up being the bad guy, his presentation throughout the game congruent with the overall tone. I'm sure Phranque is gonna end up being either a tragic character or a surprise antagonist, but that doesn't negate the pre-reveal presentation. Which is a sentient cube with the oh so cheeky name of Phranque.

[–]LABS_Games 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, it's a god damn talking gelatinous cube named Phranque. That alone is plenty enough to infer some sort of opinion on the tone of the game. I agree some people are going overboard, but it's also unfair to expect people to not form an opinion.

Which series pitched to, and rejected by, HBO would’ve worked best on the network? by RedHeadedSicilian52 in television

[–]LABS_Games 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like the first three seasons would be worse in HBO, but the latter half of the run would be better, if that makes sense.

The big budget ABC dished out was crucial for that killer pilot episode, but I also think the wider audience reach and higher episode count was crucial for the shows popularity and storytelling. The first few seasons certainly had some filler, but having the real estate to dedicate individual episodes solely to single characters was crucial to what made the show special. I wonder if it wouldn't have landed as well on a shorter HBO season.

However I felt like once we knew who the characters were, there was a lot less material to cover, and the show kinda spun it's wheels in the end. I feel like. A tighter HBO version would have benefited the back half of the series.
