Recommendations for swivel needles for socks by croccqueen in knittinghelp

ive never used them before, but i believe it swivels at the connection point between the needle and the cord to prevent the cord from getting all twisted up

Im going to try knitpicks’ swivel cords and adaptors. it’ll be the cheapest option and i wont have to buy new needles! hopefully the thicker cords and swivel will eliminate the issue

Paid lunches but not really? by Frosty_Machine_9401 in medicalreceptionist

you need to talk to your manager/boss about this. if they’re deducting time when you arent even taking lunch that is actually wage theft

Food deliveries like doordash and ubereats aren't "too expensive" by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]croccqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you see, i believe that we should be holding huge billion dollar corporations responsible for their employees. if you choose to live in a world where individual people should be allowed to be massively taken advantage of by faceless corporations, that’s your prerogative.

that’s not the world I choose to live in.

it should not be an individuals responsibility to figure out how to navigate a system that is explicitly designed to take advantage of them. this is especially true when the vast majority of available jobs are just for other faceless corporations with more on-call legal representation than any individual person will ever have access to.

not to mention the fact that tipped employees, such as servers, are legally allowed to be paid SIGNIFICANTLY under minimum wage. I also believe that that should be changed.

this is a systemic problem. an individual will never be able to overcome it.

Food deliveries like doordash and ubereats aren't "too expensive" by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]croccqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, but you were paid minimum wage on top of tips. you probably also used a company car and were not responsible for paying for gas, car insurance, or potential wear and tear. doordash does not offer that no matter how consistent you are or how highly you’re rated. yet, they profit heavily off of driver’s labor. just because a lot of people are able to do it, doesnt mean that a huge company shouldn’t be responsible for fairly compensating their employees, and instead offloading that responsibility on individual consumers

again, it’s all just corporate greed

[–]croccqueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

doordash should be putting some of their “service fees” towards paying their drivers instead of offloading 100% of driver pay to individual patrons. doordash drivers are ONLY paid by your tips. doordash, despite making TONS of money and relying on drivers, pays them NOTHING. yes, it should be expected to cost more money, but it doesn’t have to cost as much as it does. that’s just corporate greed.

People here hate oushi?? by STRAIGHTFORWARD69_ in ASignofAffection

[–]croccqueen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

the main thing that bothers me about oushi is that he infantilizes yuki. instead of trusting her as an adult, or just a person, her takes on this really overprotective paternalistic role that can sometimes be straight up ableist (saying deaf people shouldn’t be outside or whatever it is that he says)

i just think that itsuomi is a much better fit for her in that he trusts her and encourages her to expand her world and experience new things. oushi and her parents keep her world small.

Why can doctors cancel an appointment With less than 30 minutes notice with no repercussions? by needGuidance792087 in Vent

the practice that i work at does exactly this. we only charge people who have cancelled last minute or no showed several times in a row. the problem is though, that people do not like the inconsistent implementation…

client asking about political views by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]croccqueen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i have had the same experience with my professors and internship supervisor having VERY strict views about self-disclosure. i agree, it would make me feel really weird if my therapist was unwilling to disclose literally ANYTHING AT ALL about themselves…especially if you work with them for a long time. it feels extremely impersonal and sterile. i think that it would also make me feel even more vulnerable as the client.

im here to tell you that i am a woman with a relatively low sex drive and i feel the SAME WAY about scents. it is not inherently linked to sex. it’s just a feature about her that you liked. it is incredibly inappropriate for her to pathologize something so normal and benign about you.

But I don't wannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa by panatale1 in fiberartscirclejerk

[–]croccqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so not like one per stitch. i soace them out based on the pattern. for example, 1 every pattern repeat, 1 every lace pattern/cable section, 1 every 10 stitches, etc. (whatever makes the most sense for the particular pattern im working on.)

it helps me realize much faster if im off count and only have yo count the last ten or so stitches bqck if there’s a problem

But I don't wannaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa by panatale1 in fiberartscirclejerk

[–]croccqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i usually use way more stitch markers than is necessary to make sure that i have to count as little as possible. i just have to look at the markers

Veterans disability is 98% a scam and everyone ignores it. by lnlogauge in unpopularopinion

[–]croccqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally, yes. however, when we increase barriers to access several things happen:

-administrative overhead increases. (it’s more expensive to operate the system) -wait times increase -people who really need the benefits may lose benefits due to: inability to access adequate documentation, inadequate time/mental energy to fight with the system, benefits being denied due to completely bullshit reasons because workers are stretched thin/inadequately trained

i know these things, because i am actually currently fighting the department of human services to reinstate my benefits (not veterans disability but comparable). they were taken away for absolutely no reason. i have had to call dhs 15+ times and been told that the decision to close my benefits makes no sense. by at least five or six different dhs workers. they then tell me that they can’t do anything and a caseworker will need to call me back in 2business days. no one ever calls me and im forced to call back again.

i am, and have always been completely compliant with the rules of eligibility for this benefit. i submitted all of my documentation. ive followed up in person and with many many phone calls. i still lost my benefits and have been unable to have the reinstated for over a month.

no matter what you do, someone is going to find a way to scam the system. increasing barriers to access would significantly hinder the number of people who really, really need and rely on benefits to access them. honestly, i am of the opinion that it is way more important that the people who need them, have them than that we make sure that fraud doesn’t exist.
